The thing I love about color blocking is that you can do it with separates... which you can use again in another season, with another trend... I probably won't buy any already made color blocking pieces b/c this is too strong of a trend and will be easily dated... I would use these as ideas for creating color blocking with things I have in my closet already or in adding a few more pieces that can be used by themselves season after season.

I love that pink and red combo too... but I don't think I have the right pieces yet, b/c every time I tried that combination, it doesn't look right.

Do you ladies (who also love color blocking) think Hmong people will understand or would they think we have gone crazy?

I don't think it's just hmong people but everyone else who doesn't follow trends would.

People judge everyone else all the time even though we know it looks good on us.

I'm not much into bright colors from top and bottom.  I can go with bright color on top...but not bottom.  I will pick green and yellow for top and sometimes red...blue is okay.  I still prefer dark, soft..lighter colors.  :)

Funny how I thought wearing bright color with another bright color was "clash-y" .  And on top of that, some colorblocking outfits I've seen reminded me of how "colorful" Hmongs dressed in the early days of coming to the US (MTT, fobby, etc).  Everyone was in different colors, probably mismatched from head to toe, in a group of 10+ walking to a store or somewhere....  :2funny:  And now it's a "trend" heheheheh

Seriously now, I do like some color blocking dress that are like optical illusions where they accentuate your curves or de-centuate them...and I like them simple, two color or something with a neutral color in it.

Stella McCartney

DKNY (this red color belt reminds me of the Hmong's red sash, doesn't it?)

Calvin Klein

So last night I went to Nordstrom Rack to try and pick up some colored tops. I picked an orange/salmon top and a blue/navy top. I'll find time tonight to take a photo and show you ladies.

Sorry! I've been busy when I'm at home. Plus I don't post on PH when I'm at home so I tend to forget.
