Leprosy was something that the Hmong people tried to stay away from not knowing what it. We have to grow as a society and by letting go of all they traditions and moving on, we are modernizing. We aren't in the Dark Ages anymore where we only rely on word of mouth. I for one, am glad that we don't have to rely on this and can draw our own conclusions as to what we find as fact and fiction. To me, it borders on the realm of religion in that you just have to believe. Well, if I can choose which religion I want to belong to, then why can't I choose which traditions I want to believe. There is an old way to do things and then there are modern ways of doing things. What we choose is up to us.

I don't even think these 'kev caiv' evolved to represent the Hmong culture and traditions, Hmong Knight. Even if these 'kev caiv' aren't relevant in today's Hmong generation, I don't necessarily believe we are losing our roots because of it.

I honestly think that these 'kev caiv' came into light because somewhere, somehow, along the road in the past, someone made a bad decision or didn't like the way something went and they just came up with these 'kev caiv,' or what I would call, regulations to try and control things from getting out of hands.
