6 month old shaken to death by babysitter
« on: May 29, 2010, 06:48:34 PM »
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A family clings to their baby the only way they can, through videos and photos, after police say he was shaken to death.

Baby sitter Christina Moua is charged with second degree murder after doctors took 6-month-old Caiiou Xiong off life support at Providence Hospital earlier this week.

His parents documented everything about his life, including his death.

Everything was recorded so Caiiou's parents could show family down south. Now the videos are all they have left.

"He's cheerful. He's a very cheerful baby. It doesn't matter if he doesn't know you; as long as you're there talking to him, he's always smiling all the time," Caiiou's mother Cindy Yang said.

The smiles stopped last Friday when police say Caiiou was shaken to death by Christina Moua, his baby sitter.

Yang and Ge Xiong, Caiiou's father, picked him up from Moua's home after work.

"I was looking in the back seat and I was like, ‘Ge, there's something wrong. I don't know why, but he has bruises all over his legs,'"  Yang said.

They say he wasn't acting like the happy baby in the videos. He was still. He smiled one last time.

"He waited, he waited for us to come home before he go. He was waiting for his mom and dad, you know," Yang said.

Yang says she has moments when she feels like Caiiou is still alive.

"I miss him so much. I can't believe that he's really gone, you know. I still feel like he's here; I still do," she said.

The final video of Caiiou, when he was taken off life support, is one she tries not to look at.

"When I watch the video I don't really want to watch it. I'm afraid I'm going to cry but I just want to see him," Yang said.

Caiiou's funeral is scheduled for the June 6, but the family is struggling to pay for it.

Does anyone know this family?  I would like to contribute to his funeral cost.

The sad part about the story is that the babysitter is the wife of the brother.  The last thing a mother would think of is a family member hurting their child.

That's so thoughtful of you. I wish I knew who they were so I can provide you with their contact information.

I am a mother of 2...I have a 2 year old daughter and a 5 month old son...I could not imagine going through what they are and having to worry about how I will be able to bury my child.  We are all hmong and if we dont take care of each other no one else will.

wtf are the parents thinking....th is f'ing babysitter looks like she's on crack shiznits...
babysitter needs to die in a fire let alone poured on with bleach...
parents should be charged wid negligence of some sort...
wtf is this world coming too.....
in other news, a two year was mauled and killed by a pit bull...
so, should we blame the pit bull or the parents for leaving the child wid the pit bull...

The babysitter is related to the family through marriage, I believe.

This truely break my heart!..i cried  watching this video...this brings so much tear and memory back to me. Just a year ago when my baby was 3 month old the same thing happen to my baby. She was put onto life support and had a chance of 10%-20% being alive.  Everybody gave up on her except for me...i continue crying and screaming at the top of my lungs until GOD do something about it otherwise im not gonna stop shouting...i've never experience in losing anybody in my family to know how it really hurt, but it HURTS!..it feels as if i can died...i went from weeks not eating in the hospital and cry every night until i see my baby open her eyes...She is one of the few that survive. She's got alot of delays in her but i love her to death.. I thank God for making for making all things possible.

My condolences to the family, i can feel every pain in their heart...*NEVER GIVE UP HOPE*!

Theres a thread about this already and the father Ge wrote to a PH member about the help with funds. You can go over to that thread instead and help contribute.

truly sorry to the grieving couple's loss.

a complicated case. Knowing that both party involved are siblings and it is the outsider who is the babysitter.
Wonder what will the couple do-press charges so the older brother's wife (babysitter) rott in jail?

If it was me, I wouldn't press charges just because it is family and to be the one sending your SiL to prison isn't the righteous thing to do nor will that bring back your child-let the woman live her life - Karma will strike one day.

is this baby sitter married or have kids of her own?  I hope not...

The babysitter has 3 kids of her own.  If she does has a history of being mentally challegened then the parents should know better and don't depend on her for babysitting or watching their baby while they both are working.  Beside they both work for Target so why not have one work a different shift so they can take turn in caring for thier little one.  As a parent, I never like to depend on anyone to watch my kids or leave them alone at someone house even if I'm there but just running quick errands.  If you are a stay at home mom like me where I have no relatives or family close by and have raise my kids on my own........... you already know how much stress and pain it can be just caring and looking after your own kids that you don't even want your kids to become a burden to anyone else.  I don't care if its in-laws or your parents....... ...... Pretty much the same as I wouldn't want to look after anyone else if they are being drop off at my place even for a few min. or hour.  I don't want to deal with having to discipline them because they are not my kids.  I would feel bad just lecturing or yelling at them if they do something.

You're the first person I think of when I wake up.
The last person I think of before I go to bed...
And the only person I dream of.

The greatest challenge in life is finding someone who knows all your flaws, differences and mistakes , and still loves  you with everything they have.
