Tej laus ib txwm caiv ua caiv no.. niam no cov hluas tsis kay caiv lawm. For example; same clan marriage. Nowdays, they all married one another. I heard many Yangs eating the heart of animals. Lee clan eating pancreas of animal all over. Vang clan put fruit on dinner table all the time. Grandpa enter daughter-in-law's bedroom all the time. Cov hluas yuav pojniam tsis lwm qaib li lawm. Some of them just drive thru Las Vegas's chapel for their marriage license.

...so what's gonna happen next? Is Hmong losing their cultures and tradition?

Leprosy was something that the Hmong people tried to stay away from not knowing what it. We have to grow as a society and by letting go of all they traditions and moving on, we are modernizing. We aren't in the Dark Ages anymore where we only rely on word of mouth. I for one, am glad that we don't have to rely on this and can draw our own conclusions as to what we find as fact and fiction. To me, it borders on the realm of religion in that you just have to believe. Well, if I can choose which religion I want to belong to, then why can't I choose which traditions I want to believe. There is an old way to do things and then there are modern ways of doing things. What we choose is up to us.

I don't even think these 'kev caiv' evolved to represent the Hmong culture and traditions, Hmong Knight. Even if these 'kev caiv' aren't relevant in today's Hmong generation, I don't necessarily believe we are losing our roots because of it.

I honestly think that these 'kev caiv' came into light because somewhere, somehow, along the road in the past, someone made a bad decision or didn't like the way something went and they just came up with these 'kev caiv,' or what I would call, regulations to try and control things from getting out of hands.

Kev caiv ub caiv no yeej tseem yog ib qho zoo. Leej twg tsis caiv los nyob ntawm nws tus kheej xwb. Yog koj tsis paub koj cia li ua ces nws yeej tsis muaj dab tsi yuav los tav koj kev yuav los dawm koj taw. Tiam sis nco ntsoov hais tias yog koj paub es koj txhob txwm ua los yog tab meeg ua ces yeej yuav muaj teeb meem rau koj tus kheej los yog koj tsev neeg ib tug twg xwb. Tsis ntseeg txhob thuam tsam lam pom dab tej laus yeej ib txwm hais li ntawv

Hmm...how about eating mov with a fork, versus a spoon?  Wait...it's happening already.  The apocalypse will be sure to follow soon, I'm sure.

On a serious note, you're all witnessing a change in the hmong culture.  No biggie.  Did anyone think it was going to be maintained forever?   Huh
