OK. That's your perspective.  But I hope the Hmong candidates realize that there are competing with many other nonHmong and that they must appeal to the nonHmong voters. They cannot make Hmong the sole issue for the east side!

Indeed. Their biggest competition are Avi, Harrington, and McGowan.

i don't think Harrington will be as a big of a competition as Avi and McGowan...... Avi will probably be the biggest competition

When I think of Harrington, I think of that time a Hmong teenager girl waiting for a school bus got raped by a black guy and Harrington's team wasn't there to help the little girl...lol....

How do you know Avi is a big competition? He's Hindi? And perhaps the majority of voters might want to see a Hindi win? Asian Indians in politics are growing in number across the country, new sources said recently.   This is part of that, right?

Harrington is not a good canidate (in my views) because i feel like he would use his police thing to take action....to me he's more like...i'm the chief, i don't care , this is what we do....kinda deal.... i think he already has enough involvement with the community that it should just stay that way.....

Avi has very strong views and like i've mentioned before, i feel like he has the voice to be at the capitol and i wouldn't mind having him represent my community, but what you've mention above could be part of it too....

Did Harrington show up at the TakeAction conference? On Sunday evening, he appeared at the Hmong Vets celebration  on Burns Ave. But he took off quietly without anyone. I crossed him outside the door as I was going in and him already leaving and the event hadn't even started yet. The rest of the candidates stayed through, however. Foung Hawj was there.  Chai Lee there. Yeah, Avi there. The black lady walked in as I was looking for other people in the hall way. McGowan was sitting way near the back.  Except I didn't see Vang Lor.  But Cha Yang was there, too.

yes, harrington was there....all of them was there but i think they all left because i didn't get to see any of them after the winner was announced....i really wanted to go talk to them but couldn't find them

What I learned to do way back in my journalism days was this: squeeze in and talk to them before the conference starts. Ask all of the questions you want, even if you know they will say things about them on stage. Like "Mr. Hawj, what's your position on elementary school education?", "Mr. Lor, where do you stand on the economy?", "Mr. Yang, do you think Ms. Soy has a place in our state?", "Mr. Harrington, why are you back in politics after resigning your position as chief of police?", "Mr. Avi, what three things stand out as the most important for District 67 residents?", "Ms...(the African lady), what do you think Mee Moua has left behind that you would want to push more of?", "Mr. Lee, how will you deal with the diverse needs of the east side, knowing that they aren't all just Hmong needs?", "Mr. McGowan, what do you think is your best strength in this election?" etc.

i was standing by the door and he thought that i worked there so he asked me if i've seen so and so and i said no but kinda gave him a weird look..... but later to find out that he was one of the canidates! even though i was just reading his page the night before....i kinda blinked out!

Someone should have Ms.Soy go interview the candidates.  Haven't seen something like that in a while.

The pool of candidates for this Senate race is very diverse and I hope that voters vote for the one who would best represent the district an not vote based on race and/or clan.

It seems that most candidates have many supporters and anyone can take primary.

1 week and 2 days left before we'll find out!

Best of luck to all the candidates!
