My mom's bought a couple of herbal vitamins after listening to those people who call in claiming that it'll help with blood pressure, diabetes, etc.   >:(

I keep telling her not to, but she said since docs can't help, she wants to try these things just in case they work.

Just don't have her buy those quatum pendants.

All stations have a bias, all stations have a slant.  As long as they're making money and have an audience, I don't think you can do much about it.  It's really freedom of speech.  Maybe there's a market out there for someone to be fair and balanced?  hehe

Sue them for how much?

Hmong radio hosts twb tsi work part time or full time, lawv tuaj pab/volunteer xwb.  Yuav ua lis cas muaj sij hawm mus muab kom tau FACt/evidience mam coj los hais.  Pom news tawm ces qog lis xwb las as, qhov nov yeej tsi txhaum loj npaum twg yog koj muab rephrase thiab qoute tias koj muab qhov twg los.

Ib qho tej me xovtooj hmoob kuj zoo thiab.  Nws yuav tsi haum txhuas txhias tus, tab sis daws tau coob tus cov laus kev nyuaj siab, kev mob nkeeg, kev noj qab nyobzoo.  Hmoob meme thiab tsawg tsawg...yog qhov twg tsi zoo, qhias tsau; yog qhov twg yuav puas, pab kho tsau..yuav zoo duas ua nyojnees sib tog sib ntsau, pob?

I think I only.

My problem with this topic is that you don't like certain things about them but won't complaint.  In away it's like an abuse relationship where the husband is beating the wife everyday but she will not turn him in.  If you don't know or want to complaint then don't compalint on this forum period.

It seems that most of the time, they don't even have all their facts and they are on air giving the story out already.  And sometimes, some of them cannot even translate properly from the newspaper that they are reading.  Like that couple that got stuck together.  It was on the radio like it was news and causing alarm to the elders.  Stories about crime gets exaggerated and the community gets misinformed.

I think Hmong radio hosts need to be held to the same credibility and ethical standards as a journalist would--especially if they are on the air giving out news like they are one.

I totally agree with you, cause stuff like that being broadcast over the radio will only get others to look at us like a group of retarded people. ;D

They have to filter out what's appropriate and not to say, especially all the bad rumors  by callers.

they need to screen and filter their on-air debates. It get too rowdy on there.

Funny you folks mentioned this cause I heard an earful from my mom over the weekend. We visited Fresno during the hot summer and decided to take the kids and parents to cool down at a local lake. My folks didn't seem to mind and participated, they even swam. Well, last week when I took her back to town, the radio mentioned the drownings at the lake, and listeners began to call in to tell their own version of accidents they've HEARD over the years. Apparently, there is a family of ghost in the lake that selects the swimmers to be drowned. One time, these three teenagers died in an accident on their way back from swimming at this lake. One guy who attended one of the the kid's funeral service had a dream where the ghost came to tell him what happened. Turns out, the family of ghost have selected the teens to take as their spouses (via drowning). The teenagers left the lake while the ghosts were still planning. So they decided to wait for them along the road and took them via an accident.

Gave me the chills because we were still on the road, on our way back home from Fresno. Just to keep my mom happy, no more swimming at that lake. I hate the radio.
