String Theory and God
« on: August 30, 2010, 04:57:37 PM »
What is a thing that String Theory and God have in common?  Both are not testable under the current science we have.  What is the difference?  Some theoritical physicist believe in String Theory and not God because there's no proof.  Oh wait, there's no proof for string theory too.  Talk about being bias.

What was the proof a certain PH'er loved to use from kaku?  Went something like extraordinary claim requires extraordinary proof.  Now where is the extraordinary string theory proof.

Quote
It is widely believed that any theory of quantum gravity would require extremely high energies to probe directly, higher by orders of magnitude than those that current experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider[37] can reach.
String theory as it is currently understood has a huge number of equally possible solutions, called string vacua,[38] and these vacua might be sufficiently diverse to explain almost any phenomena we might observe at lower energies.
If these properties are true, string theory as a theory of everything would have little or no predictive power for low energy particle physics experiments.[39][40] Because the theory is so difficult to test, some theoretical physicists have asked if it can even be called a scientific theory. Notable critics include Peter Woit, Lee Smolin, Philip Warren Anderson,[41] Sheldon Glashow,[42] Lawrence Krauss,[43] and Carlo Rovelli.[44]

There are two things which cannot be attacked in front: ignorance and narrow-mindedness. They can only be shaken by the simple development of the contrary qualities. They will not bear discussion.  - Lord Acton

Here answer this first:

Are you a String Theorists?

How about a Theoretical Physicist?

What is a Theoretical Physicist?

 :2funny:
 :idiot2:

Hmmm.....I already answer this question before, let me know if you need help in finding the thread!

Your ignorance and lack of understanding string theory does not mean anything! If you truly are so much of an ignoramus and need me to HELP you find the answer, let me know. But you have to state it clearly that "YOU DO NOT KNOW AND NEED MY HELP"!

I will even give you a source from a WELL RESPECTED SCIENTIST/THEORETICAL PHYSICIST/ STRING THEORISTS!

EXTRAORDINARY CLAIM REQUIRES EXTRAORDINARY PROOF.  Where is it?  In fact, theoritical physicist says string theory is bogus...

A writer who follows string theory often said the follow:

Quote
"For more than a generation, physicists have been chasing a will-o’-the-wisp called string theory. The beginning of this chase marked the end of what had been three-quarters of a century of progress. Dozens of string-theory conferences have been held, hundreds of new Ph.D.s have been minted, and thousands of papers have been written. Yet, for all this activity, not a single new testable prediction has been made, not a single theoretical puzzle has been solved. In fact, there is no theory so far—just a set of hunches and calculations suggesting that a theory might exist. And, even if it does, this theory will come in such a bewildering number of versions that it will be of no practical use: a Theory of Nothing." -- Jim Holt.[36]

here's a list of scientist who have actually done something in the field of science saying string theory isn't really a theory because it cannot be tested.

Peter Woit, Lee Smolin, Philip Warren Anderson,[41] Sheldon Glashow,[42] Lawrence Krauss,[43] and Carlo Rovelli.[44]

Here you go ASSCLOWN:

This is how it is tested you MORON. Just a few months old.

Quote
All science is reproducible and testable, that separates us from religion, which is NOT reproducible and testable. NASA will launch a satellite.... - Michio Kaku

I will not give you the whole quote, as I want you to remain STUPID and DUMB, but you can go here, it has something to do with that:

LISA - Laser Interferometer Space Antenna

http://lisa.nasa.gov/

Good luck understanding it. I really don't like you, so I will not tell you anymore about it. I want you dumb as a rock, stupid and ignorant, I want you to see how stupid you are, I want you too believe in crackers and wine.

 :2funny:

Keep making ignorant claims. Argument from IGNORANCE at its best.

What about string theory?  Is it testable and reproducible?  I can't tell!  Please post an article from a UNIVERSITY with PHD professors putting their name on that article that was peer review.  Try a PhD dissertation.. .see if you can find one.

Did you miss the quote? It is incomplete because I didn't want to teach you....read it again, it has something to do with LISA from NASA used to test....

The Quote is from MICHIO KAKU: Theoretical Physicist, Professor, Bestselling Author, Popularizer of Science.
