LOL, you're too kind. i'm sure i'll be the lucky one. that bolded part was really deep though. how do you know it's the right dog and is there some divine intervention that happens in that moment?

yog lawm!

Princess. when I was looking for my dog I had a breed in mind. I wanted a golden labrador. There's something so playful and cheerful about that particular breed and that's what appealed to me. I travelled to four different dog shelters looking for my dog. It was in last one that i found my dog. He was so quiet that if my brother hadn't pointed him out I would have overlooked him. He sat there quietly looking back at me with his pathetic ugly face and I just knew he was the dog for me.

I never wanted a powerful breed. Powerful breeds scared me. He was the dog I needed because he challenged all the sterotypes that I initially had that were associated with powerful breeds.

I wasn't emotionally prepared for a dog but I knew I wanted a dog so I did it and it was the best decision i ever made.

Dogs can heal broken souls too. I know my one did.

Ok, I shall stop with my novel now.

was he neutered? does he hump the sofa and other things? if i get a female, will i have to buy doggy tampons for her? how do you clean his poop? how often do you have to bathe him? did he attend training classes?

i have many questions that i hope you can answer. i had a black lab growing up but i was only 6 years old when he died. only raised fish after that.

;D

Í shall do my best to answer your questions. Remember I am a work in progress dog owner.

I think females are harder to look after than males because of their monthly period so if you do not mind the menstrual cycle than get a female. LOL! you do not need to buy doggy tampons however if you should decide to insert one please video record the task so i can LNN at you. The female tends to just clean themselves. Also, when the female is in heat, expect a lot of stray male dogs rocking up to your place.

My dog's a male and he was neutered as part of the shelter's policies and it's a good thing as well because by neutering a male dog it minimised their aggresssivenes s, their need to dominate and mate.

I usually clean my dog's poo with a doggy scooper however the amount of your dog's poo is dependent on the quality of your dog's food. Shit food equal more shit and premium food equal well-formed stools. Like I said, if you toilet train your dog, they can poo and shit on command.

My dog is a low-maintanance dog because he usually cleans himself. I bathe him when I remember which is usually once a month....LOL

I raise my dog using the Cesar Millan's method so I suggest you watch some of his shows prior to getting a dog so you can understand dog psychology. Once you nail and understand dog psychology you can train your dog to do anything.

Also, it is recommened to enrol your dog in puppy school and training school for socialisation and obedience purposes. I did enrol my dog in training school but I found the classes to be unproductive and very distracting as a result we stopped going. My dog is a drop out.  Like I suggested in the above statement, if you follow Cesar Millan's approach you do not need training school to help you train your dog. Once you get the feel of things you will be able to train your dog your way.

Any more questions, feel free to ask...:)

LOL. i doggy sat a friend's female dog one weekend and she was on her cycle, blood got everywhere on my car seats. i know i've told you this before but i just wanted to remind myself not to get a female. how do they clean themselves? by licking their own pms? ewww.

so your dog doesn't hump anything? it makes me kind of sad for them, losing their precious jewels.

what do you consider qualilty food? is there a brand i should be aware of?

yes, i have watched some of cesar milan's stuff before.

You know this conversation can take someplace else right?

What do you think of Cesar Millan?

Seriously, if you lived closer, I would be more than happy for you to dog sit my dog for like a week so you can get a feel of owning a dog.

I used to buy premium dog food for my dog and that cost a fortune. However now I just make my own dog food. Actually my mum has turned my dog into a hmong dog so I have no say in that matter. I usually just mix ground beef with rice in water.

When I first got my dog, he attempted to dominate me by jumping on me but I put him in his place. So yes, sometimes i do feel sorry for him that his man jewels are gone because he could have made some good looking puppies.

i didn't know there was a meeting tonight but it's alright, i'm hitting the sack in a bit.

cesar is pretty good. i like how he explains what he does and why it works. i'll be sure to implement some of his techniques.

you can feed him human food? i heard you're not supposed to. sorry, i'm a complete noob and my concerns are probably unwarranted.

The fact that you have concerns indicate that you will be and have the capacity to be an awesome dog owner. I'd be more worried if you didn't have any concerns in that regard.

Don't worry, I have full faith in you.... O0

i want to rescue a beagle.

Beagles are cute, but I had a really dumb coworker once who owned one. Since then, I associate beagles with her and it's not good.  :-\

thanks, i hope so. i'm gonna teach my future dog how to understand hmong so when meekas are around i can tell it to "sick him" by saying "dias hau nws" and the meekas won't know what i'm saying.

lol, was the beagle dumb like her? dogs tend to take on the characteristic s of their owner.

I love the smell of coffee until the smell becomes overwhelming and then I snort.

I went to watch Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters the other day.

I can't remember what scene it was, but it wasn't that scary and I screamed. I was the only person in the theater that screamed.  :-[

Having said that, I screamed while watching Mulan, too. Yes, I am talking about the cartoon.  :P My sisters still give me crap about it.   :-[
