Packing food for people.
« on: September 27, 2010, 01:09:19 PM »
How sweet.

Yesterday, the bf and I went to visit my family, who lives 2 hrs away, and for our trip back, my mom packed us boiled chicken and drinks.  :love7:

Do your family pack food for people who are visiting from far away?

Remember the other superstition: you should never eat your bf/gf's family's foods while you are still just dating. Why? If you do, you two won't ever end up together.

What!! I've never heard of this. If that's the case, do you know how many couples should've never been married! ;D

Whoops, bf ate at my parents' house a lot of times before, but what he and I live on our own?

For other visitors, Yes. But I don't know if they will pack food for me when I visit.

My sister and her husband came over to visit but stay for less than 30 min. LOL.
I was like, WTH? 30 min? C mon. They live 3 or 4 hours away.
And they only stay for 30 min. No good. No good. Young couple these days!
So no chicken pack for them, but they got money.

I always pack 1/2 fresh killed chicken or rotisserie chicken depending on the family size and what they desire
along with some regular rice or sticky rice, bottled water/soda, fruits, chips, cookies......s nacks for the kids.
Oh and can't forget the plates, spoons/forks, napkins  ;D

No rice? Yes, my mom even though we have a hard time getting along with each other.  ;D I think it's sweet. I do it to family members that visits me also. Technically because I'm not married, I don't have to use a chicken, so I would go to the store and by them premade sandwiches.  :2funny:

No rice. Before the bf and I left my parents' house, we took my family out to eat, so we weren't planning on eating along the way. Anyway, sandwiches are good to eat in the car as well. =)

a long time ago when my ex drove to see me (and he does NOT live close either).  When he went home, I bought him 4 steamed bbq beef hombow because i didn't want him to get hungry.  He got teary eyed and said that no one's ever packed him food before (and it's not even a chicken!) even when he was a college student, hours away from home.  I would've packed a real lunch but we were short on time.
Awww

Very rare do I drive home - IL to MN.  College days, yeah...mom used to pack up a ton of food.  Now, there's no packing.  Not ideal on a plane for the most part.  That being said, she makes it up for feeding me like crazy when I'm home.  Love my parents to death.   O0
