He has a lot of power.  He can tell his people who to vote for.  This make all the difference.

Without him all of ur sorry asses wouldn't be here or even born so fork it up...your 100 dollars for your luxurious life..dang these ppl are ignorant always complaining about leadership and what it takes to be one..what u think its free..nothing is free...be grateful we still have a leader in the absence of cy thao and mee moua..think about it.

young lad, you got lots to learn son.  maybe you have been living your own fairy tale land or something but when the going got tuff, he took his azz along with his inner circle to the USA during the Vietnam war.  Since the USA lost the war, they did the only humanitary thing "open up amesty" for us.  the general did not sign any contract stating that if we lost the war, that the US would take all our azz to the USA.

So How has his power worked out for him that his own family can not buy him a house......? Is he too good to live with his eldest Son like most of us good Asian Folks, or for that matter get his own family to buy him a house...

Wow! I am so sorry to hear this, but truly this is a sign of how bad Hmong people got brainwashed by VP.

"Without him between 1954 and 1980..." ---it only make sense if you keep within these years.  Otherwise a permanent leader brews corruption, conflicts, and rotting subleaders.

Sorry I just have a lot of time on my hands in the evenings, reading old archives and past threads, but I kept my comments to myself back in Oct 2010 when this story broke out, I'm rather saddened at some of the comments in here though. The only comments I will agree with the most in here is YAX, tsoomhmoob, jbutton-- although he asked to get deleted from the database and some of his comments come off comical at times, redfork and maybe even Reporter. To those who did not know VP, or just going by "hearsay", do have their right to formulate their own opinions.

What's become of that house in Fresno now? Well, his immediate offspring or one of his sons can take over it. When you pass away, you leave behind whatever you have to your kids.
