COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- Three people, including two good samaritans, are listed in critical condition following a crash early Sunday morning in the north metro.

The accident happened just after midnight on Highway 610 near the East River Road exit in Coon Rapids. The State Patrol says a car driven by 19-year-old Boa Vang of Shoreview hit the center median and came to rest in the left center lane of the highway.

Two good samaritans stopped to assist Vang and all three were struck by a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Pa Lor of Mounds View. Lor and her passenger weren't injured.

The good samaritans have been identified as 39-year-old Rod Beam of Mounds View and 64-year-old Clifford Haugen of Anoka. Beam was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis while Haugen was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for treatment.

Authorities say they detected alcohol in Vang's system. She was transported North Memorial Medical Center.

The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate.

I don't know them personally, but, according to the news article,

1. The Boa Vang of Shoreview hit the center median and got stuck there,
2. Rod Beam of Mounds View and Clifford Haugen of Anoka stopped to help Boa Vang,
3. Pa Lor of Mounds View and her passenger in a car then hit all the three above.

Now, Shoreview, Anoka, and Mounds View are all very close to one another. Interesting how these neighbors all got stuck in one spot on the highway, just above the Mississippi River. Must have been a slippery road kind of thing.

If it's under 0.08, she might be ok. I think it's more of an icy surface than DWI. Look at Pa Lor's car!!! Did they detect any alcohol in her system? The article does not say. Probably because there's nothing to say about her system...and the fact that hers and Boa Vang's car slipped at the same spot suggests that that area might be icy... We'll see what more investigations say.

Even if it is under .08, she probably got a ticket for underage alcohol consumption.  With Alcohol being in this, I'm sure it'll play a factor and will not be ruled out.

True in a sense. 0.08 is a violation. But things under it could still subject someone to some kind of prosecution. But the judge probably won't be too harsh on her. The thing is, she got stuck on the highway on a slippery road. I'm pretty sure of that. Apparently, she didn't hit anyone.

Yep.  Still a violation.  We'll see how this plays out.  She is underage and I'm sure she will get something.  Especially because of the fact that she is driving.  Now, being that others are injured due to her accident, its not looking too good for her.

They might not make her liable for the accident. But the prosecutor could argue a good case for underage drinking and driving. Sure, that can be done.

But what to make of the good Samaritans? I'm not sure.  Insurance talks.

Yeah I know.  Totally sucks for them.  Good people pay the price to help people and it's just unfair.  But it also makes me wonder, if there was an accident, people move over.  How did these folks still manage to hit them?  I'm also thinking speed could be a factor.. but there are endless ways this incident could've been avoided.  If I'm passing an accident, I'm usually a few lanes over.. if I cant move, I'm passing the accident at a roll.  Slippery or not, I wouldn't have hit them.  But hey, thats just me.

We'll see what the investigations show more of. Hopefully, Pa Lor wasn't speeding or had some good reasons for coming at them.

We could only hope for the best but also for the worst.  You can't just think positive.. lawyers will always have another idea.

Underage drinking is a violation for sure. Whether she has other records to aggravate her crime--that's another question.

Deffinately, until then, we can only speculate on what we have to go on.
