Vang Pao Dead?
« on: January 11, 2011, 03:10:02 PM »
Alright I hope I don't start a riot about this. I'm not a big fan of Vang Pao but I have nothing against the old man.

What do you guys think about the death of Vang Pao?

I honestly can say I do not really care one way or another. I think Hmong people put too much hope and determination in the man. He's a mere human being like you and me. I don't like how people worship him like he's a GOD when he's simply just a man. Why do we acknowledge him but nobody seems to remember Touby Lyfoung? I know a lot of people are grateful for Vang Pao bringing them to America and all, but ask ourselves, "Was it really him that brought us?" There's families out there that could say that Vang Pao clearly had nothing to do with them in different countries; because missionaries brought them over. I remember the stories of when Vang Pao would leave families behind when those limited planes took off.

I don't like how people follow Vang Pao like a sheep. We aren't sheep, we are individuals who have our own mentality and our own ways of solving problems. This isn't Thailand we can now read, we can write, we can even surf the internet. We don't have to wait for Vang Pao to give us an order anymore. If we want something done, we solve it via diplomacy. Going back to the 2008 Vang Pao protests. How many of you guys attended and if you did attend why did you attend? Did you guys know what was going on during the whole process and did you take time to hear both sides of the story? I honestly can say that I was not amused by his jailing but at the same time, we live in a diplomatic world where terrorism is not acknowledged. I remember being yelled at for not going. They said to me, "If you don't go and support Vang Pao, Hmong people will become terrorist!" I thought to myself, "That was not the whole point of the protest at all."

Ask yourselves, "How has Vang Pao influenced my life?" I can proudly say, "He didn't." I influenced my life. A death of a man is tragic, yes, but let us not forget he was just a man. He is not a God, he was no "Hmong King".

Out of all the comments posted, even by those whom have said negative things about gvp, this has got to be one of the most moronic, idiotic things i have heard.  whether you viewed his actions as good or bad, he influenced all our lives.  just because you grew up in america and had no interaction with him you think you did it all by yourself?  i guess malcom x or MLK or mandela didn't have any influence over any of the young afro's lives today as well, because they never did anything for this younger generation.  get your head out of your a$$ kid.  americans are not just so generous that they would sponser and accept thousands of hill-tribe hmongs into the US.

I'm so tired of these dumba$$es.

Another one of them guys with the "every man for himself" sorta thinking. Hmm. People like you probably didn't have a very good relationship with his parents growing up either. Sad.

kids and their know-it-all.
tired of typing, so here's cut and paste from my other post on the same topic...

"my successes are not my own. the way to them was prepared by others. the fruit of my labors is not my own: for i am preparing the way for the achievements of another. nor are my failures my own. they may spring from failure of another, but they are also compensated for by another’s achievement. therefore the meaning of my life is not to be looked for merely in the sum total of my own achievements. it is seen only in the complete integration of my achievements and failures with the achievements and failures of my own generation, and society, and time."

when thousands of people are mourning your death, you know you lived a good life and inspired a few dozens.
the past was paved by people like gvp. if i could walk half his distance, maybe i can pave the way for the next one dozen.

..and that's all i have to say about gvp.

I'm not a big fan......but I have nothing against the old man.

What do you guys think about the death of Vang Pao?

people worship him like he's a GOD

There's families out there that could say that Vang Pao clearly had nothing to do with them in different countries; because missionaries brought them over.

I remember the stories of when Vang Pao would leave families behind when those limited planes took off.

"How has Vang Pao influenced my life?" I can proudly say, "He didn't." I influenced my life. A death of a man is tragic, yes, but let us not forget he was just a man. He is not a God, he was no "Hmong King".

"I have nothing against the man", as you stated, but your entire post is anti-GVP..so what do you really mean?

"what do you think about the death of GVP?"....ummm, 'normal' people just do not ask this question. You asked this, to give the rest of your paragraphs legs and support. but it is truly not a normal question, usually a funeral....is. ...a funeral...what are you really asking??

"people worship him like a god", your easy to read. when u asked this, it shows ur frustration towards GVP. People honor his accomplishment s, and they give him respect in return. Some people may follow GVP more closely then others. but you are frustrated because you are unfamiliar with him so you must seek out who may share the same kind of views. which is your own right but your thoughts are overly extreme.

Yes, missionaries did volunteer to sponsor Hmong families. But you must remember where the root of the tree grows. do u see american missionaries flocking to Bosnia??

leaving families behind when planes take off....its unclear, why this was stated. when a plane takes off, its full....so.... ummm...yea...l ets re-evaluate that again...ummm, time to take off...seats are full....so...t hat means?? trick question!!!........hrmmm, no more seats??

of course, you influence yourself. GVP, didnt have a direct influence on me also. but i still respect what he has given us...he is no king and he is no god...u just need to stop hating on him...kuz its making you hallucinate.

i am not asking you to like him, it is your choice. but please speak respectfully about those who have changed lives around the world....i am sure, more so then u will ever do in your life time, 200 folds....

so, keep in mind, that mexico is next door....if u dont like being here kuz GVP got us here...then please, pack up. otherwise, show some respect....

since your so cool and smart, Im just curious where were u when he was alive? why didnt u speak up when he was still here?!.....now hes gone and now u got something to say?? LOL  :idiot2: ...MORON!
