Don't know, had an aunt (one of a few women shamans) that would share the meat she earned from performing shamanism for others. It was only pork, chicken or beef. Perhaps, barter some meat for the service?  ???

It depend on the Shaman, can be from 0-1g. If you don't believe in it don't bother with it.

It really depends on the Shaman's fees and investments [for the equipment, ceremony, sacrifice(s), etc.] and especially their reputation. My dad had a ruptured disc months ago and heard OGs talking about this "popular" and "effective" Shaman in North Carolina. He made my brothers drive him 10 hours to North Carolina. They paid $3,000 bucks to the Shaman just so the guy could ua neeb/ black magic for a ruptured disc.

Yes, we were furious.

I was never told what the Shaman's name was and revealing it if I even knew may disturb their privacy, but he lives either near or in Charlotte, NC. OGs said he's been a successful Shaman for decades and from what I hear, he's really old. My dad's condition improved because of the surgery that took place before they went to NC. Honestly, black magic will not be able to replace ruptured bones or discs and other related health issues. He's still recuperating 'til this day.

I'm glad people like your Aunt doesn't charge. My mom's been a Shaman for about a decade now and she's never charged either. If people really want to pay their respects, they usually just donate a certain amount only because they want to.

Most Hmong OGs are still refusing that the world is technologicall y advancing and should probably seek professional medical evaluation(s). For spiritual interventions, it may be questionable. One must ask themself if they really want to call out other spirits just to drive away one spirit?

actually..some times.. shamans can do wonders for physical ailments too!

my aunt had a cousin who was in alot of back pain. goes to the doc, finds out she has little tumors on her spine and the doc wanted her to do surgery. in fear, (of course who wouldn't be) she called my aunt and my aunt look for her and told her that her khuab neeg says in 3 days the tumors would shrink and for her not to worry. sure enough, the following the cousin went in and the tumor shrunk. the docs were stunned!!! so i guess sometimes it does works.

Good example...many Hmong patients have gone to Western doctors. No help.
