It's not the price that's the issue. It's the bad-luck problem.

Supposedly, there is only so much "luck" to be passed around in one year. If two marriages/wedding occur in the same family in one year, these two couples will be fighting for the same luck and ultimately one or even both will be doomed.

You ppl are some what correct N incorrect..
Reason why 2 brother/sister can't marry @ the same year...cuz OGs don't wanna see both having a failing marriage.. Tat's why one has to do it one yr. Apart..so if one is failing, then is not.. Plus it brings shame onto the families.i know of a family tat did same year wedding N noting happened.. But it depands on ur karrma..

In other words...Bad Luck.

Any of the OG ever tell you guys/gals about the Moon Phases, Seasons, and the dates on when to get marry/wedding?  I was told that the start of a new moon being the best time to marry, since it is starting and not ending.  How about the seasons?  Spring is best since it's brings new life...nature stuff.  Fall and Winter being the coming to an "end"...or "death."  Summer...I forgot what they told me about summer, but all I know is that it's damn hot during the summer to do a wedding in a pack house.  As for the dates, it's better to get marry on a date with "even" numbers...some thing about one becoming two.

I can't say how much I believe in all of this no-double weddings in the family taboo but two of my step-sisters got married in the same year about a month apart. One of the step-sisters' son was born with cryptorchidism . And her in-laws blamed it on the double marriage.

I don't believed any of these Hmong beliefs, myths, superstitions, etc.  If you want to live with it and drill on all these stuff then you can otherwise I will just live my life normal and not let it bother me or go along with it.

The chicken diet or 1 month thing.  I never follow it or believe it and nothing is wrong.  I told my husband that probably back in Laos.......bec ause of poverty and not enough foods to go around then maybe chicken is the cheapest poultry they can get their hand on and raise so it was just a way of whatever...... .... Honestly, I do get lecture by my own mom and maybe even my mil if they were in my home and seeing that I don't eat chicken at all.  Good thing, I'm free to eat whatever I want because my husband is not one to believe or go along with every little thing that one should do or not do............ ..
