I expect a "real conversation" consisting of the exchange of words and thoughts instead of just one word responses like yes/no/dunno, silence, and/or heavy breathing on the other line. Usually if I find myself with this type of phone call, then the guy gets a "thanks for calling and have a nice day/night" and click--the dial tone.

It's not really that but more so of common courtesy.  You call people to talk to them right? Not waste their time by not saying anything.

Personalities differ when the guy's on the phone and sometimes there's miscommunicati on that'll make the conversation awkward. I prefer when he calls, he calls me for a date.

Hold on, I thought it'll be to quick for girls if the guy already ask for a date on the first call?

But what I mean is, if the first date is successful, he'd call for a second date and we carry on the conversation into the second or future dates. Don't make the phone conversation be 2-3 hours, that's just going to kill whatever chemistry you made in the first date.
