Pedestrian hit in Milwaukee and one of three Good Samaritans killed while rushing to help

The series of accidents occurred Mar. 11 on the south side of Milwaukee. Milwaukee police confirmed that a total of four people were struck by vehicles in the pedestrian accidents and a surveillance camera was able to catch footage of each incident.
The footage shows that a man was hit by a vehicle shortly before 2 a.m. at 33rd and Lincoln. It appears that the man was walking from Don's Pub and was struck in the intersection as he was crossing the street. The driver of the vehicle stopped and three individuals who had witnessed the accident rushed to help the injured pedestrian who was lying in the middle of the street. Other witnesses said that a truck driver and an operator of a street sweeper noticed the injured pedestrian and tried to block the intersection with their vehicles so that the three individuals could be protected while they helped the injured man.
However, just minutes after the first crash, the four individuals in the middle of the road were all struck by another vehicle as it plowed through the intersection, passing in between the truck and street sweeper. The car then rear-ended the vehicle that was involved in the first accident. Three women got out of the car and fled the scene on foot.
One of the individuals who had rushed to help the man was thrown over the vehicle in the incident. The woman's father said that she underwent several hours of surgery after the accident and was recovering. Unfortunately, one of the other bystanders who sought to assist the injured pedestrian was killed. Sources believe that the second crash caused the fatality. It is uncertain if charges have been filed in either incident.
Last week's series of crashes illustrates how vulnerable pedestrians are in accidents involving vehicles. Although witnesses of the first accident tried to protect the individuals who were helping the injured pedestrian, another vehicle plowed through injuring the three and sadly killed one of the bystanders.

Sad story, oh wells.  I wonder why they didnt at least try to slow down?  Probably were kinda drunk, I'm sure the other cars had hazards on.  Maybe they weren't paying attention to the roads.
