Dr. PH!
« on: April 05, 2011, 06:48:11 PM »
I have a dilemma here, I want to know what should I called my bro-n-law (in hmong) whom is marry to my sister and I am marry to his sister. So basically we just marry each other's sister. Before my sister haven't marry my bro-n-law, I called him "dab laus" and he called me "yaug yim" but now that he is marry to my sister, how do I address him now.  >:(  :idiot2: :2funny:

But what about our kids, how should they address him and me. Damn, stupid sister, gotta duck everything up... :knuppel2:

JK, the situation doesn't apply to me. It's just a scenario that what if that would to happen. How would people address each other in our hmong culture. O0

The kids would call all of y'all: uncle and aunt..duh!! These days, the younger generation don't really address their in-laws etc. formally so just call him by his first name.  I'm sure that'd be fine.  By Hmong culture standards, what y'all did is considered taboo but that's better than marrying your first blood related cousin.  Don't sweat it.
