I understand what Chue is trying to do: giving people hope until someone is elected or chosen to help the Hmong. Otherwise, we are a headless chicken, right?  Snake, I mean--struggling and beating all over but not knowing where to do. At least Chue is trying to take care of domestic abuses.

I'm not supporting appointments as such, since I don't believe in dictatorship and since I believe in a democracy where leaders are elected by the people. But I think what Chue is doing serves the temporary purpose. We don't have any election quick enough to find a replacement for VP. Who else but one of his sons to replace him while the community thinks up someone?

I think Chu's act of service to hmong families and communities is an act of charity and its definitely a great display.  It has merits.  It kind of reminds me of Lady Diana for what she did among the commoners.  And of course, there is no comparison between Chu and Lady Di.  That isn't what I want to say or make a distinction about the two.  What I'm simply stating is that regardless of status, leadership is never an entitlment among men of our age and time.  One simply cannot accept leadership from one's father, unless...never mind.

I understand. And I wasn't responding to you earlier on. I was just stating my point... I think Chue is probably thinking he's entitled to keep his father's title? I'll say the reputation but probably not the title.

Leadership is based on merits earned by the individual alone.

Only if that is a true statement.  It's not what you know, or have done sometimes.  Many times it is who you know.

If one of GVP's son had stepped out of their father's shadow then he would be followed.  However, from what I hear, Chue wasn't very well liked and some of his haters torched his house in MN and he left.  Furthermore, their family has too much baggage such scandals with misappropriati on of funds and etc... kept hush hush.

I would say it is his to lose.  He has the name recognition and his dad's people to build on.  He need to feed the beast.  VP's ability to feed the beast earned him the leadership position.  If he fails to feed the beast, the position will pass on to the next person who can feed the beast.

The people's needs: hope, ego, belonging, economic, protection, etc...  ultimately the majority will need economic assistance.  Whoever can provide economic assistance will be the new leader.

Economics.  Very high unemployment because of their socialist system.  It explains their eagerness for war.  The president of France is trying to distract his people with the wars in Libya and the Ivory Coast.

Sarkozy will be gone soon.  The beast in France is close to impossible to feed.  They want everything for free.  How are they going to have wars without $$$???

gvps sons are on the same level as those who are trying to be the next hmong leader... theyre just trying to pose their ideals to the hmong...  its not a bad thing nor is it a good thing...

its like when bruce lee died; so many chinese tried to replace him... but jackie chan came out on top...

so the next hmong leader will be a clown... jk... most likely the next hmong leader will not be too similar to gvp...

I don't think there will b another hmong leader. This generation of hmong dont need a hmong leader. GVP was a lao-hmong leader and not an american -hmong leader. Even alot of the younger hmong ppl dont even consider GVP as a hmong leader.
