everthing in the world is about $. no such thing as a free lunch. time = $ even if it's a dying culture, a dying art.

even if a qeej master is offering free lessons, i personally, would give him a min. $20/lesson for his time. paying makes people stay committed, especially the learner.

I think whether to charge or not should just be decided by the teacher.  Some will not charge but people will still pay them out of respect.
My father gave out free 'qeej' lessons to my brothers and cousins.  In the end only one student actually learned anything.  It's hard and takes true dedication and discipline.
