The system is fukk up, the mother had something to do with child's death, otherwise she would have reported her missing. My verdict, she's guilty of murder.
The system works in that there's a greater good....that it's "Better 10 Guilty Men Go Free than to Convict a Single Innocent Man."
One of the jurors said they all agree that she did it, but they couldn't convict her due to the lack of evidence.
I'll say it again...from experience. In jury deliberation, it's not "do you think she's guilty? Yes or No?" Jury deliberation works this way:
Did she do this? Yes or No
Did she also do this? Yes or No
What about this? Yes or No
And this? Yes or No
If you answered yes to all that, then you must convict.
If you answered no or any of that, then you must acquit.
Deliberation gets more complicated than the above. But the system is design in such a way that one juror's opinion cannot influence the outcome. You have to decide only on the disputed facts given to you by the judge.
