nbab nooj? ba-no? what does it mean?
« on: July 19, 2011, 06:23:47 PM »
i'm researching the meaning behind this word.

could you help me define it?

i've heard some say it means "fobby", but then
i swear it is used in Asia, so it couldn't mean that.

i'm thinking it means, "ghetto".  but then it could also mean, "resourceful".

what do you think or know of this term?

very serious.
i've secured a grant to study this topic.

i wanted to get in depth with this to see if it was a derogatory name given to Hmong people such as 'nigger' or if this is a positive word meaning one whomlives a simple life.

We're all fobby and "ba-no" in our own ways and may still do things simplistically they way most of us were brought up,  just that when some people think they got too good or advanced in life, they look down on those who does things in a "nbam nauj" way  ::) I poke fun of myself all the time, I don't care what anything thinks or says.

For instance, it's about 105 degrees right now and it feels like hell outside, and you're still wearing a long-sleeve shirt.  That is being ba-no. :idiot2: I use to cover myself up from head to toe in dirty jeans and an old flannel shirt, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, when I use to go farming, because I didn't want to get burned, and look how white I still am  ;D
