The 12:35 p.m. accident occurred just west of Fifth Avenue, near the Burger King driveway on Oro Dam.
Oroville Police officer Jaclyn Loftin said at the scene that the collision happened when the driver of a blue GMC pickup pulled out of the Burger King parking lot to go into the center left-turn lane.
Officer Oscar Gonzalez later said the driver of the pickup, Brett Bukowatz, 45, struck a white Toyota van that was already in the center lane.
The van, driven by Lee Lor, 45, was preparing to make a turn north when it was hit, Gonzalez said. It sustained damage to the front.
The condition of the drivers wasn't available by deadline.
