I promised that I would critic after attending this conference so here it is.

Positives:  Dr. Soua(Suav) Thao and Dr. Suav Yang were impressive speakers on not only Hmong History but our identity, culture, religion.  Superintendent(Thajkhu) Moua Lia(b) gave me Hmong history in Laos that I've never heard of.  He also gave dates which was impressive.  Dr. Yang Khou, Professor from Stanislaus University gave us satistics from the 2010 Census Bureau that there are 236,400 counted Hmong across America.  We ranked among the poorest at 26% in poverty compare to refugees like Vietnamese, Laotion, Cambodian who came around the same time as us.  Among our population 58% of us were native born and 42% foreign born.  We are still the poorest group because most of our workers across America are still assembly lines rather than management or business owners.  Nao Yeej Moua from Merced spoke about Business development, social economic, economic development, political development.  City council Nao Pue Lor from Merced spoke about how to get involve in American Politics.  They all preached on Hmong needs to help Hmong before other races so we can provide Education, Jobs to our younger generations.

Negatives:  Poor stage set up.  Meeting was 30 minutes behind scheduled.  Not enough young people attended the conference.

Overall grade:  A. O0

Thanks f-16.  Were there any discussions on what steps this group will take?  I'm afraid that, like previous groups, only close relatives will support.  Peb Moob mas, peb muaj tug cwjpwm yeej tsi support tug saab nrau.  Peb xaav kua peb tug tau nom tau tswv xwb.

They made it clear that their intention was not to be a Hmong leader rather one of committee to reunite Hmong and it's identity.  They added hmong will not only have one leader but many so in case of injustice or fraud the next one can rise up.  They have created a by law that every inputs are welcome and will be revised for publishing in a year.  They've mentioned of creating 21 departments including Higher Education, Hmong Women, Economic Development, Veteran, 18 xeem, International Leadership and many more.  The committe sound legit in my mind so it'll be up to us whether we still want to honor our heritage or just become mainstream americans.  Dr. Soua Thao was most impressive.  He was funny, intelligent, used some of the oldest hmong slang that elders used and ethusiam about helping a hmong cause.  I like the line he used that Hmoob muaj ib tug kab mob tam sim no.  Yog tsis nrhiav tshuaj pab tiag ces ntshe txoj pa yuav tu tiag.  He made a comparison to some of his personal life expereinces about his patients at the hospital.  I urge all of you to attend the next conference and contribute your assitsance whether financially or knowledge.  The hardest road block I see our unity is financial in my opinion.

I missed that. But that's no biggie. I trust them to do good! And they do.

On his bio they say Dr. Suav Thao was one of the founder for Hmong Minnesota Bar Association, Hmong Minnesota Golf Association.  Listen to hmong radios sometime bro.  I'm sure they'll be on there more from here on.

They are the engineers and you and I are the drivers.  We'll have to work as a team now or we'll fall to pieces.  Hmong in the past relied on leaders to lead and do everything.  We have to change that concept in my opinion.

Glad to hear that they have the passion and the energy to do this.  I wish I have that kind of passion.  I'm just helping myself at the moment.

I have a BIG Question.   Are there anyone there that is NOT a doctor? and if there's one, was it a Ph.D in Political ?

Does it have to be a DOCTOR to help unite Hmong people? Not that a doctor can't do but rather more of "why does it have to be a doctor to pull anyone's ear?"

Who said you have to be a doctor?
