No.  In fact, it was a great and momentous occasion.

Some parents are just outspoken but as first impression, that can be scary. I find it that majority of parents like someone who likes to talk alot and engaged in coversation easily.

  Don't matter. I used to know a guy who was also a farmer. Well, he helped his family with planting and harvesting. One summer afternoon, he brought us a whole truck load of vegies. My parents was so happy and thought he was a great guy! He was a talk of the town for a whole month. Other parents was like "Dang, wished my daughter met someone like that". But the sad thing is that I didn't feel any physical attraction so we went our own ways.

The keyword is: Be yourself. I think if you be yourself, everything should go smoothly. Just be polite, respond back, eye contact, and do not babble away.

Always been easy with me because of this.

One thing I noticed too is a lot of elders like the outdoor stuff, so that helps if you're into hunting and fishing also. Oh yeah, at least be able understand/speak ok hmong.
