And yet Scott Walker is complaining professors and teachers are getting paid too much.
I suppose if you include their pension, health/benefit, and etc... they actually make 20-30k more if you normalize it against a regular person who works 40hours.
A teacher who makes 60k with pension and health benefit at no cost plus having 3 month off... Let's normalize that data.
Salary: 46k
Health benefit at zero cost: $500x12per month (that's extra they get that a regulatory employee pays)
Pension (assume 15% state contribution I think it might be more???someone confirm?): 575 per month
Works 9 of 12 months: Normalization factor
Compensation =(46000+500x12+575x12)/.75 = 78.5k (no health deduction was factor since they receive 100% coverage by government, which can result in significantly higher wage)
So not bad you say right? 60% higher than a normal wage person at 45k who works for public companies.
I know they work a lot of hours too...Who doesn't as a salary worker.
Conclusion: Teachers make very good $$$.
