CONCORD, N.C. -- Family members and neighbors told Eyewitness News they never imagined husband and wife Vivian Xiong and Por Ye Lor would be the victims of a murder-suicide.

Concord police said Lor, 31, went to the Lowe's Home Improvement store on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, shot and killed Xiong, 25, who worked as a cashier, and then turned the gun on himself.

Eyewitness News went to the couple's home on Arbor Drive in Salisbury, where neighbors were in shock.

Neighbor Carroll Owens said, "I just can't imagine why a man would get so angry that he would want to shoot the woman that bore his children." Owens lives just yards from the couple's home.

Salisbury police there said they never went to the home for any domestic problems, and neighbors said the family seemed happy. "I saw no trouble up there (at) all," Owens said. "Their children seemed to be the happiest kids."

Tuesday, Eyewitness News spoke with Lor's brother, Sunnis, who said the family also had no indication that anything was wrong. He said the couple had been married for about eight years and had three children, the oldest just 6.

Now, the family is struggling to understand how and why something like this could have happened. Owens said he share the family's pain.

"My deepest sympathy to the family," Owens said. "It's such a tragic loss, senseless killing."

The couple's three young children are now in Department of Social Services custody.

Sunnis Lor said he is making arrangements to take the children into his home.

The family will make funeral arrangements for the couple later this week.

Lowe's Home Improvement store is providing counseling for the employees and customers who were affected by the shooting. A representative for the company said counselors will be available at the store for the next several days

not sure if this has been posted but its the talk of the town here

CONCORD, N.C. --  Two people were shot and killed at the Lowe's Home Improvement store in Concord Monday evening.

Concord police said that Por Ye Lor, 31, shot and killed his wife Zoua "Vivian" Xiong, 25, and then himself a little after 5 p.m. in a domestic dispute at the register area in the Lowe's store.

Authorities said that it was a domestic incident and Xiong was a store employee.

It caused for some terrifying moments for those who were shopping and working. Witnesses say employees told them to stay put after shots were fired.

"My grandparents were in the store," said Zachary Bare. He heard about the shooting and rushed to the Lowe's on Dale Earnhardt Blvd. "They said they heard gunshots and an employee came and told them to stay put - there had been a shooting."

Bare found his grandparents outside the store. They were scared, but OK.

Concord police arrived and shortly after so did family of the woman killed.

Tuesday morning Lowe’s will be sending grief counselors to the store to help those who may have witnesses the shooting. The store re-opened on time, shortly after 6:00am Tuesday.
Patricia Bare told NewsChannel 36 by phone that she heard several shots while inside the store. She said she saw two bodies near a cash register as she left the store.
Concord police confirmed that both a man and a woman were dead. Relatives said Xiong was a cashier and a mother.

The coupled lived in Salisbury. Salisbury Police, Concord Police, the Cabarras County Sheriff's Office and the Rowan County Sheriff's Office say they have no criminal records for either Lor or Xiong. Only the Rowan County Clerk of Court office has any type of record for Lor. Even so, they confirm records show he only has a 2003 littering ticket and a 2004 speeding ticket.
"Everyone was evacuated. No one else was hurt. It was not a random act. They did know each other," said Concord Interim Police Chief Guy Smith.
Police removed both victims cars from the parking lot.

No one else in the store was injured. Police say at least 8 employees and shoppers were in the store at the time
