Do you agree that, we are spoil?
« on: September 20, 2011, 06:27:43 PM »
I have no memory of my child hood back in Laos. But from what i heard and know of. Back home you walk far to get to ur destionation. Or have to work hard to put food on the table. Like tending ur plot of land.

But here in the US. We have M/BK/Wendy etc... We drive just about anywhere.
Or like going out of town.. we drive here and there.. i have to admit. I use to be full of engery and now i'm just being lazy.

We don't have yo tend ur plot to grow stuff, cuz theres Cub Foods, Rainbow etc..

We do have it pretty good here and tend to take things for granted often times.

Different hardships. Not sure if we are spoiled, it's all relative. We don't have to deal with basic survival chores such as food and shelter. We however have to deal with psychological issues, work, wife, husband etc with all the modern obligations and demands. I think it's more like a trade-off.

now i don't mean to or try'n to debate you on this.
I grew up in the hood, seing my parents on welfare. As a child i don't see the future. I see a bunch of kids that are growing up in the same hood as i once did, and said, my gosh. We hmong need to get out of the hood so that our kids can have a better future. You can say that some have better. And some are still in the same spot as they were 10+years ago.
Think about it chirstmas kids got more toys then what they can do. Shoot i got nothing when i was growing up.

That's why I said that even in the USA (Don't have to be in Laos/Thailand), some people still have more than others. Some are still struggling. So, can you say that they've been spoil? I don't think so. I grew up in the ghetto as well and we were poor too. We never get any present or never been to Mcdonald. I didn't even get to eat pizza or mcdonald until years and years later. Heck, I heard about it but didn't even know what it was. We were not spoil on clothes, foods, or materialistic things. Majority of my clothes are from the thrift. So, while some can claim that they've been pretty much spoiled.. I would have to say that some of us are not.

Now, if you are talking about technology wise like toilet, running water, stove and etc. Then "YES" we are because now we don't have to get up early to go fetch our water and then still have to come and blow on the stove to get the fire going. We now have electricity where we can just switch on/off instantly.

That's why growing up, my parents always said to me " You guys don't know how good you guys have it here, so stop complaining". I never knew what she meant until I was old enough to understand the struggles that they went through back in Laos. I was too young back in Laos and everything was made and handed to me so I didn't know how hard they work to get foods on the table, water, and fire to warm us up.

the one in the big city knows, but the ones that still live out in the jungle, don't. They are still fighting a 30+yeae old battle. Or the ones that still lives in hunts and un ED.
