Anchorage Police Department Homicide detectives arrested Lee Chee Chang on 10-12-11 at 22:30 hours by authority of an arrest warrant on a charge of Murder 1st degree. Detectives believe that Lee Chang fired a handgun at point blank range at Emilio Ramirez while Lee Chang was standing over Ramirez as he lay on the pavement in the parking lot of JJ’s Lounge. Ramirez died as a result of the gunshot wounds.

Immediately after the shooting, Vang Chang took the handgun from Lee Chang and ran from the scene with it. Vang Chang has already been arrested on charges related to this incident.

Lee Chang surrendered to APD detectives at Anchorage Police Headquarters on 10-12-11 at 21:15 hours. He was accompanied by his attorney, Rex Butler. Lee Chang is scheduled to be arraigned on 10-13-11 after 14:30 hours at Anchorage Jail Court. His bail will be set at that court appearance.

Homicide Unit detectives are continuing their investigation of this case. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
