Haha...singing that "Thai blood", etc...when I'm not Thai blood. I'm not even in love with a Thai star or Thai farmer, let alone being anywhere close to being Thai blood.

Lol. I'm quite surprised no one else told you what it meant or perhaps they didn't know the meaning of the song either.

I think the Thai teacher was trying to brainwash me and my classmates with those lyrics. We just sang along like little kids in grade schools singing along a teacher here.

When you live on some of the inches of Thailand, the Thais have got to indoctrinate you, right? Or else you may start to claim those inches as Hmong inches. :2funny:

True, guess they were just being careful, or they were planning on recruiting you to fight for them later on. Good thing you came to America Reporter. hehe

When you are little, you just scream to songs without knowing their political effects or meaings.

if you're thai, it's not so bad. but it's just like we are "americans"....do you feel american? if not, you could say you were misled too.

In America, the anthem is not ethnic specific--the brave, the free--anyone can be that. I fit in.  So do you.  But the Thai anthem says "Thai blood..." Do you and I fit in there? No. It needs to be changed to say Thai citizens or things like that rather than Thai blood...I'm not protesting for change. It's up to Thailand to embrace or not to embrace its diverse populations. But since I'm Hmong blood, I believe I have been misled by singing a song that says something like I am Thai blood.

I enjoy it though. I feel like it's part of me now. And I like how they have even sensationalize d it.

And make the lyrics more clear with animations like this:

See how good the indoctrination has been? 30 years later, I still remember the lyrics and even enjoy the song. When I hear it, I feel so at home that I want to sing along with it.

I'd sung the song unknowingly too, very much like the Pledge of Allegiance. Being a child, didn't know any better or know the meaning. At least, I didn't take it to heart but did what every mate does... Reason why I wasn't indoctrinated is probably because they'd banned shortly after...

I guess anyone that's not Thai and thinking that they're Thai must be feeling stupid now. :2funny:
