The bill would ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

If enacted, the law would be a direct challenge to the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which upheld a woman's right to an abortion until the fetus is viable outside the womb, usually at 22-24 weeks. A heartbeat can be detected at about six weeks.

Interesting, who's proposing this bill?

When there's conception, there's life so how many weeks a woman might be doesn't matter.  Putting regulations on abortion base on weeks is irrevelant.  Even at 24 weeks, it's only a 39% chance that the fetus will survive.  It's either you are pro life or pro choice.

have humans lost touch with reality? even the tigers don't kill their own offsprings, and they are mainly meat eaters.

Not a fan of the new bill and I hope it doesn't pass.

I don't like these words we use for this situation. Life and choice.

I believe people should have informed knowledge before action and the possibility of making decisions.  *shrugs.

There are MANY reasons why a woman would choose an abortion.  It's not as simple as some may think.  There are rape cases and medical conditions.

As AF suggested there are other reasons.  For example I remember there was a case where a women was raped and ended up pregnant, the only problem is that she had a defect that would result in her death and the babies if she gave birth...thus an abortion was required.

Granted thats probably more the exception, but still a viable example as to why women should have a choice.

I believe that abortion should be allow BUT the woman/man of the unborn should pay for the procedure;  no tax dollar should be used to cover this procedure with the exception of rape, incest, potential death of mother in the first trimester only. If it's beyond the first trimester, no abortion whatsoever... It should also be an optional coverage on medical insurance.
