Cuts In Medicare and Increase In Medical Device Tax
« on: October 26, 2011, 05:09:43 PM »
Talk about a perfect storm to crater the only industry which seems immune.  Healthcare cost is going to rise into epic level unless healthcare can be automated.

Healthcare in the US is an unregulated industry correct?  They can charge whatever price they like.

Only healthcare cost or price is unregulated. Doctors and hospitals can charge whatever they feel like charging.

But healthcare itself--the care levels and standards--are regulated.

No.  Look it up.  It is the most highly regulated industry in the world.  What takes four weeks in the software like google world takes four months in the FDA world.  Your 100 page document becomes a 1000 page document.  Why?  The engineering requirement is far higher.  The documentation requirement is far higher.  You've studied configuration management via product data management.  This is a heavy usage in healthcare...

No, you are talking about something else.  You are talking about a product.  We are talking about the health market.

Who is We?  Just you?  Or did you actually understand what lady_falling was saying?  I sure didn't.

No, you are talking about something else.  You are talking about a product.  We are talking about the health market.

transparency act in Cali...just to name one for the market.  Medical device tax just to name one for the market.  CMS just to name one for the market.  HMO just to name one for the market.  Reimbursement laws just to name one for the market.

If you want the biggest price control factor then you should know that the US government is the biggest spender on healthcare and through CMS.GOV they control pricing and reimbursement.  They don't say how much in dollar, but if you charge too much they won't pay 100% or simply reject your claim and you cannot submit again - it's part the medical coding profession via EDI systems.   :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

Device, Drugs, Biologics can charge anything as long as it is within reason...This is all beind close door negotiation that we don't see.  There is also the transparency act going through CA legislation.

That's right. This is the reason why health care is so expensive.
