Support a Youth's College Education Campaign
To learn more about this campaign, view this video:
Asian Americans overall obtain high levels of formal education, but an analysis of recent census data reveals large disparities between Asian American ethnic groups. Only 60% of Hmong Americans graduate from high school and only 14% have a bachelor's degree or higher. These lower rates of educational attainment put the Hmong on par with Latinos and African Americans where 61% of Latinos and 81% of African Americans have high school diplomas; 13% of Latinos and 18% of African Americans have at least a bachelor's degrees (AA Center for Advancing Justice).
For various reasons, there are obstacles that hinder Hmong Americans' educational attainment. It is crucial to support Hmong Americans as they overcome the many challenges faced in pursuing their academic dreams.
The "Support a Youth's College Education Campaign" promotes the support of Hmong Americans' college education and encourages students to dream big. A small percentage of the proceeds will help fund a Hmong Leadership Workshop for Hmong youth in Milwaukee, WI. The rest of the proceeds will be donated to the Hmong American Friendship Association (
http://hmongamer.org/) to contribute to a college scholarship fund that will be awarded to a Hmong college student.
