That is why we make them come in for education and teaching but many want us to just give them a refill on their last antibiotic. They definitely know what they're doing, I just can't believe that adults would not want to take care of themselves a little better.
We're going to have to face the facts that no matter the education, some people if they are not going take actions to protect themselves, then they are simply not going to do it. As a health care provider, wondering why they don't do it is irrelevant. Because we can't blame people as victims in a disease process, although they could be the sole cause of their own sickness. I know that nurses get frustrated over pateint's ignorance to adhere to medical advice and intervention, and sometimes yell at them. I have to remind these nurses not to do that. The health fields is a service to humanity, if they come to you injured or diseased, you must treat. You must not have doubtful impression about bad habitual practices. Otherwise it can impact their treatment and might not be most productive.
