I guess not believing in santa clause of a religion.  Why?  Because they believe in something they can't prove.  They can't prove that santa clause doesn't exist.  Not believing on big foot is also a religion.  By the way what is modern atheism?  How is modern atheism different from old day atheism?

T...this is one of those perfect examples when you were debating/arguing with PH's best debater, TheAfterLife. He's just so sharp and intelligent you can't even debate with him. TheAfterLife pretty much own you. Hung_Low, PH's third best debater, pretty own you in this debate topic as well. You just can't win. Trust me, buddy. ;)

When someone comes in and post a topic such as, "How do you know eating human shit is not good for you?" just how do you defend that eating human shit is bad for you? ???

But don't let me stop you though T. This topic that Hung_Low thought of with, Noam Chomsky has a name for it. He call it "BEYOND IDIOCY"...might even turn out to be an interesting and enlightening discussion/debate. ;)

People who thought of topics such as this, unless they are or trying to be smar@sses, are clearly thinking even below a preschool grade level.

I find this pattern of debate among the Christians.  I want to know if religion has this effect on people.   If it is, religion is so bad.  It makes people less intelligent.

Well, religion, especially the Judeo-Christian religions and Islam, which all share a common ancestry, and also the most dominant religions in the world, are all primarily based on FAITH. As a matter of fact, with Christianity and Islam, both those religions are implying in one way or another that if you question them, you're the Devil or a product of the Devil. In terms of debate...it's impossible to have an intelligent debate on religion with a Christian or a Muslim.

I left out the Jews because the Jews also have a strong tradition of Atheism...from Karl Marx, to Freud, to Ayn Rand, and Noam Chomsky just to name a few.

Christianity is a modern day cult with millions of followers.

Back up my claim? May 21, 2011. What happened on that day? Lots of disappointed Christians.

Christianity did start out as a cult. That is just a straight-up fact...just like the Mormonism sect start out as a cult. And then of course today, we have mainstream Mormonism (LDS) which is more or less became legit in in the eyes of society so it's a respectable religion today. And then you have the Mormon cult (FLDS) today...which in essence, is far more in line with true Mormonism, the kind of Mormonism that was founded by Joseph Smith and preached by Mormonism's most respected and greatest all-time leader, both LDS and FLDS, Brigham Young.

I believe it's a hate group AND a religious opinion from them. Again, if anybody hates superman so much because of his good works that caused the world to have so problem, then I would understand since we humans don't like the x-men and the brotherhood. They both caused a lot of problems because one fights for good and the other fights for evil. Heck, blame both because they caused suffering in the world. Good caused suffering and Bad caused suffering. Either way, your dead in both sides. Therefore, just live on since life isn't fair.

Thanks for saying and proving that this post is just idiotic and below preschool grade level. Now you see how majority of our debating posts are really like to other people.  O0 O0
I just had to do it so you and Christian haters will understand...  >:D

I don't disagree with you that there are cults who claims to be christian but if you're smart you know the difference between who a christian is a those that claim to be but are not.

According to statistics, there are about 2 billion (YES WITH A B) Christians in the world. That's why people like TheAfterLife, V8, and you, love to brag that the United States is a Christian country and we are living in a Christian world. If you take away those cults such as the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Scientists, Seventh Day Adventists, and of course, those swarming damn Catholics who breeds like flies and cockroaches (even though they, the Catholics, pretty much started all), are we still living in a Christian world?

But according to your definition of a Christian, is there even 1 Christian in the whole world? I would assume that you claim yourself to be a Christian? How do you know and are you even sure you are a Christian?

And last but not least, when you label other Christian groups as being cults (whether directly, indirectly, or just in your heart), how do you know the Christian group that you belong to is not a cult? I mean what rights, qualifications, or Jesus/God-given ability do you have to label other Christians, such as those who believe in Harold Camping's predictions not Christians or true/real Christians?

Oh and by the way, can you or any Christian in here give me an example of a Christian person that's alive today? Or is that just simply not possible? Is your pastor a Christian? Only til he goes to Laos and marries a 14 year-old or til he visits a prostitute? Wait but if he repent, he's still a Christian right? So being a Christian is just about sinning and repenting?

I just have to post up something like this to show how ridiculous you and Christianity is. Wait, maybe I am a Christian or even more of a Christian than most Christians are even though I believe people who believe in Jesus are insane? Wait again, this means I am definitely a Christian. Just look at the once doubting and Christian-hater Apostle Paul. I can go on and on and on but I'm sure even people who thinks at or below a preschool grade level knows what I'm getting at. I HOPE.

Uh… no one is bragging that the U.S. is a Christian nation and we are living in a Christian world… only YOU and your cohorts brag that the U.S. is a Christian nation and we live in a Christian world. Go back and read all your little postings. And FYI, the Catholics didn’t started it all… Christians were started way before the Catholic were ever in existence. Get your fact straight… Does any of your listed religious denominations that claimed to be Christian believe that Christ is the Son of God and follow his teaching and his command? Check their doctrines… like I told you before, all our posting just shows how lack you are in thiese matters and makes you look like a fool.

But according to your definition of a Christian, is there even 1 Christian in the whole world? I would assume that you claim yourself to be a Christian? How do you know and are you even sure you are a Christian?

I know what I am but do you know who you are? Being Christian does not mean that I’m perfect and sinless. I know I’ll never be perfect in God’s eye and He doesn’t expect me to be. We’re all born sinners and have a human heart, we are not blameless and perfect. A true Christian knows this fact and will repent of his sins. Every day, we commit sins… and every day we confess our sin. A Christian is someone who strive to live like Christ and obey his commands. There are millions of Christians in the world and there are millions who claimed to be Christians but are not also. Do you even know that the KKK claimed to be Christians too? Everytime they born the cross, they pray for the return of Christ... but they are not Christian because they don't live like Christ.

Hmmm… let me see, Jesus the Son of God gave me the right to say and believe that anyone who claimed to be a Christian but not following his teaching or his command, nor believed that he is the Son of God is a false Christian. Read it on the Bibe. And Harod Camping, if he is a true Christian, why would he go against what Christ teaches? Jesus said it plain and simple about dooms day… no one knows the time, only the Father in Heaven knows the time.

There are millions of devoted Christians. See it for yourself, not just by assuming… if my pastor goes to Thailand and married a 14 years old or visit a prostitute, then we already know what he really is? If a person claimed to be an Atheist but goes to church to pray, do you still consider that person an Atheist? Come on… I think you’re smarter than bringing this “only a preschool” can think of as a example… those are your words, remember. Now, if that pastor does it only once and repents of his sin and never do it again… Yes, he’s still a Christian and will be forgiven. If you think not, then you obviously don’t know what a being a Christian is… Now, if he knows what he’s doing is sinful but continues to do it anyway and relies on the repent of sin each time, then it’s not forgiven.

I HOPE

Again, you’re showing your lack of intelligent in this matter. You didn’t post how ridiculous Christian or those that followed Christ really is, you only prove how deep your hatred of Christian really is. Christian is only ridiculous because you don’t understand it, and refused to believe in it. Millions of people who don’t share your view thinks your view is ridiculous… but to each his own. You just prove my point that anyone can claim to be a Christian without knowing what Christian really involved. FYI, Paul was a Christian hater and persecutor… But look at him afterward. He gave up his life for Christians… You? I doubt you’ll give up your life for anyone, not even for your own belief. You’ll probably just change side to save your own skin.

You see... there's your problem. You think that anyone that don't think like you nor share your view is less intelligent than yourself, but obviously all your postings just proved to us all that it's the other way around.

The idiocy on this forum continues to baffle me...

Most people come to the conclusion of atheism because they prefer rational thinking. Case in point: I was born a Christian and baptized before I ever knew what Christianity was. However, being the rational personal I am, I began to question "why" I should believe this particular religion over any other religion. In the end, I realized all religions serve one purpose: they are social constructs aimed at easing life's greatest fear - death.

Why should I believe in Christianity? Where's the proof I seek that will make me believe? As far as I'm aware, most religions offer the same anecdotes and moral teachings.

Yet, the biggest disappointment for me is that I'm no closer to God than anyone else, Christian or non-Christian. God doesn't speak to men... He doesn't put on a spectacle.... But we have all these people who claim to understand his will. They preach and speak as though he communicates with them. It's all rubbish.

I'm just laughing right now because the majority of PH Atheist are not scientist and not engineers.  They do not know science.  They talk a lot about science but that is it.  Science to them is a label or an empty cup (at leas in their head).

Please do tell me what you do for a living and why you feel that you know enough about science to say religon is like santa claus.  I work in the high tech. medical field.  A part of my job is to make sure that scientists/engineers are using the right scientific and mathematical models to show that our devices are acceptable and safe.  I don't have a PhD but if he brings his paper, and gives me time to review and study it, he better be prepare for my questions because it's not going to be about the grammatical error here and there or other minor nuiances, it's abotu the SCIENCE and the MATH and if it's legit or not because many don't know is that you can lie with science and math and sounds pretty fawking GOOD...It's why only peer reviewed paper are PUBLISHED.

Lastly, the last guy who wanted to debate science, believed that a theory is proven with complete certainty.  Funny how we keep changing string theory.  So was the last theory change proven or not?  NOT PROVEN...  Oh the excuse here is that science can be revised and it is meant to be revised...Ummm ...sure...Tell that to the families of the patient who dies after using a medical device or drug.

You guys want to debate, let me know...we'll debate.  Better bring science because debating religon is kinda stupid when the common language is math and science.  Before you criticize me, look at yourself in the mirror if your belief stands the test of science, which you say I cannot stand.  I am 100% sure based upon what we know as I'm writning that it cannot stand the test of science as well...So why the double standard?  Why do religon need to prove with complete certainty and atheism gets scott free without having done that...  To me that's just ducking laughable and bias.

I've spent years on that subject...one can only conclude rationally that it is impossible for something to come from nothing.  It is that SIMPLE.  It defies all known laws of science.
