Car theft suspect: ‘I’m gonna make your job easy’

A Wisconsin man made police work easy last month for a Woodbury, Minn., officer.

After being pulled over on Interstate 94, the man got out of his car, put his hands above his head and said, “I’m gonna make your job easy,” according to a criminal complaint.

Without provocation from the officer, the man said “the car is stolen.”

The suspect, Wisconsin Rapids resident Bee Khang, was charged Nov. 18 in Washington County with one count of motor vehicle theft, a felony. He was released from jail on $1,000 bail.

According to the complaint:

The Woodbury officer received a report Nov. 17 of a driving complaint on I-94. He spotted the vehicle and watched it weave within its lane and change speeds.

After conducting the traffic stop and receiving the admission from Khang, the officer confirmed the vehicle had been stolen out of Wisconsin.

During an interview with police, Khang said he was homeless and located the car near his last residence in Wisconsin Rapids. He told the officer the vehicle was unlocked with the keys in the ignition.

Khang, who said he did not have a driver’s license in any state, told police he planned on taking the vehicle only temporarily for a trip to the Twin Cities to “take care of some family problems of a life and death nature.”

Though he said he intended to eventually return the vehicle, he didn’t give an estimate as to how long it would be before he returned it.

Khang is due in court again Dec. 21 for an omnibus hearing.

I'm homeless and I need to take care of some family issues.  Is your car available?

He's homeless. I wonder where he'll receive his papers at?
