"American" wedding or/and Hmong wedding?
« on: December 18, 2011, 10:39:24 PM »
what's important to you and/or your partner? It seems most Hmong prefer an American wedding nowadays.

HMONG, and preferably in my backyard. I think I want pizza hut to cater for me but the partner may want to grill hot dogs instead.

I think if we have to let the elders know and make them happy, you should go the traditional route first.

We're incorporating parts of a Hmong and Vietnamese and Miskas wedding. The most important part is to make sure we have our families there and that they enjoy their time.

I'm with you on this one. We should feel special when it comes to a Hmong wedding, and it shows respect for both families and ancestors.

I just got married and I had the choice for both or either and I just went with the traditional Hmong wedding. My biggest reason is that both my husband and I prefer to stay out of the limelight so it'll be awkward for the both of us to be the "centers of attentions". But my Hmong wedding was very pretty. My family put out canopies, flowers, got wedding cakes, cooked delicious food.

i do both... at the same time...

reserve two rooms, one side for the Hmong wedding and the other for the American wedding.

at the end have a big reception.

Although I don’t like that whole idea of just having an all meat-based menu….I still prefer my Hmong wedding and that’s it. I would rather save money for a nice home than invest it in another wedding.
