Wanna move out to an Apartment but scared of Ghost
« on: January 14, 2012, 12:09:57 AM »
After working my ass off for a year I'm ready to move out with my girl but I have always believed that all houses have a ghost that will only calm down once they like you. Ok my girl is more scared of ghost than me so I have to man up during possible ghost activities but I am scared deep down. I know I'm not the only one lol I know lots of tough gangstas who hide behind their wives when it comes to ghosts. Maybe invite my little siblings to come live with us so they can play COD and party all night until I get comfty enough? I have a fear of big space so just looking for something small and cheap. Guys I'm serious and I know I'm not the only one who's scared. I man up good when it comes to defending but I'm scared trying to defend against something I can't harm. Advice and stories please from the experienced peps who have already gone through their first place and how you eventually felt comfortable

The way you judge others is a reflection of how YOU see the world, not how the WORLD IS

Theres lots of weird phobias out there and trust me at first I was like big space? But it's related to ghosts, the more room you have, the more chances of seeing apparitions aka more chance of seeing something pop up in the distance

Seriously? Lol. It's not as scary as you may think, but I love having my own space and being alone, so we're probably different in that way. Just don't think of ghosts...think logically, then maybe you won't be so scared. :)

We moved alot when I was little and I always have very scary nightmares my first night sleeping in every single new home.  So it's always been a fear of moving out for me. Most nightmares are about open hallway doors or mirrors so now I have no mirrors in my room and must sleep with all doors closed

Oh....well, a lot of people don't like mirrors in their rooms, especially ones facing them while they sleep. Maybe instead of just having you and the girlfriend share a place, you can get a couple more roommates and share a 2br apt. That way you'll have more company...but the only downfall is that having roommates might be a pain at the beginning, because you'll have to get used to each other. Otherwise renting a studio is smaller then an apt and it's cheaper too. If you're still into the hmong religion, have your dad sweep the place and put a knife under your pillow to prevent bad dreams. My dad used to always put a knife under my pillow when I was a kid when I had bad dreams.

chingy! go live at the sommerset apts. ahahaha. :2funny: i know ur scared of that place but still, the good thing is there is tons of hmong people there.  :D

or when you do move into an apartment. Bring those red corn and throw it inside the apartment. Heard old folks say that when you throw corns, it hits the spirit and they leave. Or do what my friend does, take kids there with him and have them run around. If they look like they are having fun, the apartment is safe. If they stop and cry, pick a different apt.

hell naw sommer set are you crazy? all i see is a bunch of Laos wannabes hanging outside and their old parents chewing on that red shit lol. ghetto as hell and very haunted, i imagine lots of gang deaths. But never heard of the red corn thingy, i'll have to get me some of those lol

I'm going to have to agree with Jelicas on this one. The more you think about ghostly encounters, the more your mind is focused on that. And the mind is as powerful as it is tricky. And the more you think about it, the more your mind is going to play tricks on you.
But to be truthful, according to your post, who say you can't harm them. I've always believed if they have to power to scare you, then you have to power to defeat them. But for most people, they get so scared they just look for others to help.

Even our elders who have survived war, death, poverty, and some of life's most harsh challenges believe in ghosts and fear them if they feel a place has such a presence. To make sure such fears don't control how you live, you have to take a rational approach and not believe every place has a haunting presence to it. Do whatever you feel helps, such as your proposition of inviting siblings over. The more home-like a new place feels, the better you'll feel about it. The thing with most ghost-phobias is that you freak yourself out even though there's a rational explanation to things spooking you out.

Don't watch scary movies, keep yourself occupied, find ways to enjoy your new place, and be rational when it comes to things (ie: creaky sounds can be explained, unless you start getting dragged around your apartment by some unseen thing then don't think everything's a haunting). All I know is that if I ever find something "ghostly" in my place, I'll hand them my bills and tell them to pay up if they want to give me crap.   ;D

For me, there's just too many things going on to worry if there's a ghost. You'd probably get a good amount of flack from the landlords, but wouldn't hurt to ask if they know of any "previous ghost problems" with the potential places you'll choose. Just say it's a spiritual thing you like to find out about places before you move in.  8)
