US Pho Vs. Thailand Pho (น้ำตก)
« on: February 03, 2012, 01:37:59 PM »
Pho in the states seems to miss some certain ingredients of the pho (น้ำตก) sold in Thailand.  If it only takes a few hours to fly to Thailand I'd love to have a bowl of น้ำตก right now.

It depends, most places over there is just like here because the food has been out for a while.

Now once in a while you get fresh noodles or papayya and it's GOOD!

I'm in Thailand right now and I don't see any pho. Lotsa fried stuff. The Thais have their own style of noodles. 'can't compare apples and oranges. We gotta respect the differences.

It's personal preference.

I prefer Vietnamese Pho, nothing beats the people who invented it.

I agreed. While I was in Vietnam I'd ate Pho every morning. Somehow the liquid that they had. Their liquid is not dark at all, but soooo good.

My boyfriend love Vietnamese, my taste buds can't really tell the difference therefore as along as it's pho :)
Thailand pho are good too, but there's less noodles and more liquid (at least the places that I've been to in Thailand).

น้ำตก is just a subgroup of noodles. The Thai word for noodle(s) is ก๋วยเตี๋ยว. Hope you don't order other things with น้ำตก  as a flavor. Then you won't have pho for sure. :2funny: :2funny:

True. I haven't seen any comparable noodles elsewhere but at the Vietnamese restaurants. But I must say even the various Vietnamese restaurants make them differently somehow. I prefer pho at some Vietnamese restaurants than at other Vietnamese restaurants.

But that's just for noodle soups though. Other things, different cultures have different things. Udon noodles?  Chinese and Japanese and Korean are the best! Etc.

Thai pho is the best  O0

because I'm too lazy to add anything else to my pho with Thai pho you are all set to eat without having to add anything but red hot chili peppers.

My mom cooks noodles the Thai way. I never knew until I went there and saw the same. What I like about Asian food from Asia is the fact that I can eat several plate without that bloated feeling. The US has too much MSG and who knows what else.

I had pho (kuay tieaw) when I was in Thailand and nothing in the US can compare to it, not even the Viet pho shops. Now, I just need to go visit Vietnam and have the Pho there.  ;)
