Before you decide which bike to buy, take the msf course first to see if it's really your thing. Plus, it can help assess whether the 250 is right or bigger. After you get your feet wet with some motorcycling knowledge and some practice time on their bikes (more than likely Ninja 250) for about $250, you can see if it's your thing or not. Motorcycling is great but it's not for everyone.

With that said, an Asian women on a moto is pretty sexy and I would like to see more out there. When we go on group rides, my girl is the only Asian girl that rides her own bike. The rest are passengers on the back of their men.

And yes, the last generation of 250 is smaller, weighs less but has more power.

I prefer used bike as a first/practice bike but make sure it's mechanically sound and safe. You don't to be on the freeway and have one of the wheels falls off.

yes, thanks I took your advice and am gonna sign up for the moto class.  They have one near me.  I also have a friend who is going to let me get the feel of his motorcycle first.  I think its a yamaha... I didnt want to buy a new bike because if i crashed it, I would be sad... so If i buy a used one, I can always give it to my niece.  thanks for helping me out a lot.  You seem to be the only one who helps me.

You're welcome. I just want a potential new member of the motorcycling world to start on the right foot in this hobby. And hopefully him/her will continue to enjoy motorcycling for a long time to come. My girl did the class and it was well worth it with training, knowledge, and skills she gained from it. Once she passed her course and licensed, she bought a Ninja 250 to start on.

Used and cheap bikes for new riders are better because if it's dropped during the learning stages, it won't hurt as much. Plus, it's the first bike, not the last. However, make sure it's in good running condition and mechanically safe. The mechanically sound and safe aspect is the only advantage new bikes have over used bikes but there are plenty of good running used bikes out there.
