And tis was my 1st time ever since ice fishing for 10+ years. Never had I broken a rod while fishing. Tis one of those stories which the big one got away.

^^ No this happen while I was Trout fishing. I only caught 2, limit is 5 per person.
I only had this rod for 2 years and it was the one that was for trout fishing only. Lucky I alway brought 2 rods, just in case.

I sometimes bring 3-4 rods with me. 2 of me expansive rod and 2 semi okay rod. each has a Specific Lure on them. that way I don't have to change jigs. But if I go out of thown I only bring 2 of my best rod. Since that rod broke, I ended up having to replace it. I'll take photo of my new trout pole for next ice season.

There's always gotta be heaters. The bigger the ice house the more heat it needs to warm up. Wen I bring my 6 person ice house. I bring my heavy duty gears. 2 sunflower heaters, lantern, extra gas tank, incase it gets too cold and you'll have to max the heaters. Always better to over pack then under pack..

I limited last year on Courthouse. Didn't have time to go this past opener as my fishing partner (my son) had a basketball game at 10 AM.  ;)

Yeah that's where my rod broke.. But next year with my new rod N reel,  I'll catch my limit. My lure never fails me. but at the same time I'm scare that my line will break. and I'll lose my costly lure.

But I want to stay inside the ice house and just drill a hole.  ;D My sister and her boyfriend, plus my brother and his wife went a few years. They rented a ice house that had heater. The girls stayed inside and fish. They even got drunk too!  ;D
cool, renting is a better way to go, all you need to bring is a  Carbon monoxide alarm.. And ur fishing poles N bait. After that you don't have to haul anything in or out. lol. But those cabin can cost a lot of moola.
