Hmong funerals: Church & Traditional
« on: April 14, 2015, 10:53:19 AM »
I couldn't find a topic that relate to what I want to know. Hope no one finds this topic conflicting.

Church goers & Traditional doers:

When people offer "Nyiaj Tu Siab" to the family.

a. Do you say "thank you" to the giver or to God/Jesus?
b. Do you still pull them aside and "Ua lawv tsaug"?
c. Do you still record their names down?

Giving should be about giving, right? Should people feel offended if they are not thanked?

Please share your thoughts and give advice to those who are curious such as me.

I don't go to enough funerals...to see what's what.

I'm not offended, write my name and write the amount I gave, that's all that's needed.

But what if they don't write your name down or the amount you gave?

If they don't write your name down, it's because they be thieving and pocketing that money.

That could be too, but I have been to church and traditional funerals and noticed some church goers don't write down names.

Some people don't want their names written down.  So those can be excused.

All money has to be recorded.  Unless you've got a donation box upfront, that can always be added to the fund later.

Sometimes it's the newbie who doesn't know to record names and amounts down...

a. A simple thank you for paying your respect is fine...
b. No
c. Yes, for those that are OK so I can send them a thank you card later.

When I'm paying respect and the deceased's family member(s) come over to kneel and say thank you, I usually don't allow them to do that. I tell them a simple thank you is sufficient, no need to kneel.

If one of my family members died and I don't do the kneeling thank you either as it's not necessary in this day and age...

Different folks, different strokes but a simple thank you has worked for my family over the years with zero issue... O0

Should people feel offended if they are not thanked?

I'm not as I understand the family is going through a tough time so whether they thank me or not is not a big deal...

This day and age, this is definitively a HA'Mung practice  ...  KEKEKE  ...   >:D

(And for the record, I have never received a "Thank You Card" from a/any HA'Mung nor has anyone else to my knowledge  ...  kekeke  ...   :idiot2:)

Different folks, the same HA'Mung thus different, or the "same BS"  ...  KEKEKE  ...   ::)

Says the HA'Ruam that talk a lot of shitte but can't back up any of his "Ruam" BS claims...

For examples:

-HA'Ruam claimed that traditional Hmong marriages are "perfectly legal" but can't explain why the couples married that way still have to file paperworks at their local courthouse so their marriage can be legal..

-HA'Ruam claimed that bride kidnapping is not part of Hmong wedding custom but can't explain why so many Hmong have accepted it and got married just the same as the other wedding hitch methods for centuries now.

Trust me, HA'Ruam will continue to have nothing to back up his "Ruam" BS claims... ;D
