I will revive this debate.  Thanos is highly intelligent and would use that to his advantage.  Ya'll forgot about that.  Without the infinity gauntlet, Thanos would seek a different power such as The Heart Of The Universe and would wreck havoc.  Without anything Thanos took a full blast from Galactus.  Thanos would rather use his intelligence than fight.
