I think you can switch it to manual mode.  I like automatic so far on my moped.  Is gear shifting on a motorcycle more fun?  I am considering getting a Buell Blast.

That bike offers paddle shifting buttons mounted on the handlebar but whether it's on the handlebar for moto or on the steering wheel for auto, paddle shifting is not real manual shifting. Therefore, it's still an automatic.

Real manual tranny is much "more fun" for me.

If I was looking for a 500cc bike, the Buell Blast would be the last bike I would consider but since it's your money and choice, it's better to get the one you want.
