...on the NM4, duck walk it, lean it, etc., and it felt like a big scooter with ample of storage room to me. Do your research and if you like it, go for it:

Sure hope people that get bikes take advantage of touring this great land on two wheels. I've done it in cars as well as on bikes and riding a bike is just so much more enjoyable and thrilling for me. I've gone north (Canada) to south (Mexico) and west (San Francisco) to East (New York) on my bikes and loved it!!!

I'm also fortunate to have a partner, now wife that shares the same passion.  O0

I would think sports bike would be the least comfortable for long ride.  Your arms and back must hurt.

Depends on the type of "sports bike"...and of course the rider as one sitting position doesn't fit all.

My bike is considered a muscle standard so that type of sitting position offers the best comfort for most.

My wife's bike is considered a sportbike but it also offers a standard sitting position with real handlebars vs. clip-ons and the foot pegs are lower and more forward than those on Race Replica sportbikes so it is also comfortable for most...

The 3 main sitting positions for motorcycles are:

1. Standard, most riders prefer this for comfort i.e., Goldwing like...

2. Laid back with feet forward (lazy boy), this position work for the second most riders especially those without lower back pain i.e., many of cruisers like those from HD, Honda, victory, Indian, choppers, etc., offer this sitting postion

3. Leaning forward with feet sitting high, this track/racing type of position works for the least amount of riders in terms of comfort and those few that can fit that sitting position have been able to tour long distance without much of an issue i.e., race replica models such as the R1, S1000RR, GSX-R, etc.

Example of standard sitting position:
