Tell me what you like about it and what you don't like about it?  Compare your experience with the previous city and state you lived before.

What I like is the Hmong stores and Ua hauj lwm qab rooj.  What I dislike is your typical life in big cities.

I lived in WI since I was little and moved away after college.  I lived in a town with less than 100,000 people and I like the twin cities more.

Your opinion of the twin cities can vary a lot depending on where you live...  East St. Paul, Woodbury, Blaine, Brooklyn Park. They are all different in their own ways.

For the entire greater metropolitan.. ..

Pros:

Lots of shopping, groceries, restaurants to choose from and chains you won't find in small towns...  Buy buy baby, whole foods, trader joes, and tons of Asian markets. Mall of America is also in the metro.

Having an international airport is also huge, esp that it is a major hub so much more direct flights.

Charter schools are on the rise here as an option for public districts.

Lots of lakes and trails right in your back yard.

Three casinos just minutes away.

There's so much I can list...

Lots of big employers based here for white collar jobs and huge medical device presence.

Big cons,

Longer commute, esp how MN dot plans their projects.

Cost of living is higher, but much less than other large metros.

The way MN does tabs for cars is totally stupid.

Marches randomly forcing closure of major streets and freeways.

Being a packer fan in Viks territory/TV market

Depends  ;D
It can get shady in the north side of Mpls and quiet in Edina.  There's a great young professional scene in uptown and for you older folks there's Hmong village where you can meet other old folks and talk about who's related to whom and who lived where in Ban Vinai.

There's a lot of good schools here, it's diverse and full of smart up and coming individuals from many corners of society.  There's enough opportunity here that even Wisconsinites drive here to work and go back home to Wisconsin everyday.  Oh yeah, and the film, music, restaurant, and "other" arts scene is amazing.

Grew up in WI, never moved back after college.

Thanks for all the answers.

It does seem that the twin cities is a great place to live.  The con is that the cost of living is a little higher and you have to deal with traffic.

Jobs are in an abundance in your field (you just need to look), Hmong markets are close by at a drop of a hat, and each downtown is easily accessible no matter where you are coming from. A selection of butchering places if you like freshly butchered animals. Big time gaming for the people who live/breathe/and excavate MN land(s). Land of 10000+ lakes :P where you can catch a variety of fishes. There is a festival for almost everything under the sun! The great Minnesota get together where we will deep fry anything your little heart desires and much much more.

There is much more .............. .

I live in the twin cities, so i know what i'm talking about.  Two of the best reason to be living here is....*drum rolls*.....stargate and pupraya (formerly known as ac)!!

If you guys don't believe me, go check it out on the weekends, absolutely an abundant of beautiful and single women around!  I was just out this passed weekend, and let me tell you, don't die unless you've been there!  There were so many beautiful women, even i, a person of no discretion, couldn't make a choice.   :idiot2:  :D ;D

Friend from there ask me to come to Mn to find some work if I can't find a good decent job in CA. I lied about going to Nc and they were saying no, come up here in the midwest.  ;D Maybe some day I come there for work and drink beer with them for a few years and move back...  ;D

check out this video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9Z9Y-kq-Rg
maybe a good place to find a job or to get experience or what ever fit you...

fishing and hunting, off road...   No Stripe Bass, No White Sturgeon, No Mt Lesson Trout... thats the con living in the midwest...         the pro, what I think. Lots of Hmong that came from the Thailand refugee's that settle in Saint Paul, MN area. Feel like you in tojsiab.com photo booth and it is just right on the corner where you be living. Lots of MTT you can say that...  ;D  just kidding... We all MTT...    Lesser to catch allergies, lesser traffic, entry level job's is abundant. You probably breath much fresher air compare to CA...   I probably died from diesel exhaust smoke than cigarette smoke in California...  ;D

So duckingwing. You from Ca? thinking to explore the Midwest...
sure will miss this Lake in CA if you move away...   ;D  This is Hmong Lake...

Great rollerblading on East/West River Road

Incredible schools for kids: Benilde-St. Margaret, Breck, Mounds Park Academy, St Thomas Academy, Convent of the Visitation

Suburbs: North Oaks, Savage, Lakeville, Ham Lake, Stillwater

Uptown, surrounded by all the lakes

Yes.  I will have to see if the offer is good enough.  I know I would enjoy the twin cities.  So many things to do and many people to meet.  New friends.  New possibilities.
