Trump vowed to tackle mental health issues..
« on: February 16, 2018, 11:22:20 AM »
Republicans think this is a good start:

"Trump's latest budget would slash the major source of public funds for mental health treatment, the Medicaid program serving more than 70 million low-income and disabled people. The budget also calls for a 36 percent cut to an Education Department grant program that supports safer schools, reducing it by $25 million from the current level of $67.5 million."

All Trump has to do to tackle the mental health problems in America is to get rid of liberals.

Start off with Hmong libtards.

The fundamental question is whose job is to take care of the members of the community?  Is it the government? Or is it the people?  When the catholic church was serving the country's need of being taken care of they did it out of their good hearts.  Certain groups in America did not like this and they took to action to have the government do this.  It is why the catholic church is out of the healthcare business and it is why healthcare is so expensive now.  This ugly truth is not spoken of unless you understand the deep history of healthcare and also understand the subterfuge going on relating to political identity....an yways, it's much too complicated for most Americans to understand.  They just want to work 8 hours, come home, workout, play with the kids, eat dinner and repeat.  Then they try to talk politics as if they understand it.  It's like when I talk to non-practicing scientist about theories and mathematics of science...they understand current event but don't have a clue about how to do it.  Needless to say, most Americans are not grounded in theory and rationality no more...it's all force-fed BS.

Sure we need all of those things in society...why is it happening?  Nobody talks about root cause.  All everyone talks about is how to profit from social problems and the easiest person to target is big government because the government is not accountable to social reform, PEOPLE ARE, YOU ARE.  I think once Americans are educated that ORGANIZATIONS are not accountable for TRANSFORMATION because they are too busy with ORDER/STABILITY, we would realize that the PEOPLE are best to solve the problem and not government.  Build a non-profit and drive the results.

Amen.

It is not the role of the government to take care of the sick. It is the role of family members and other charitable organizations.

I do applaud the good work of Hmong MN non-profit because they are now making strides now that the old guards are gone.  Hopefully, greed does not take over...I suspect some of it will.

Does any of those programs actually work? We all know that Medicaid/Medicare and Welfare have been abused by people who are not qualified for it.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-education-spending-tops-global-list-study-shows/

The United States spends more than other developed nations on its students' education each year, with parents and private foundations picking up more of the costs... Despite the spending, U.S. students still trail their rivals on international tests.

To HL, just because some people abuse a system does not mean it doesn't work.  If it allows people to get help for their mental issues, then YES it is working.  If the system didn't exist and these people don't get help and they're out there shooting our kids in school, we are in alot of trouble.

As for the other two's argument about whether it is the government's job to take care of the mental health folks.  Keep in mind that he original purpose of government was to PROTECT people or PROMOTE general welfare of people.  Meaning, the government's role is to make sure everyone is safe and sound.

If you are not doing everything you can to protect your citizens from people with mental health, then you are not doing your job as government.  If protecting people means getting help for those who need it, then it should be the government's responsibility to do so.   Why is that so difficult to understand?
