I have a net worth of $500k, on my way to become a hmong millionaire

i went to the tech for accounting.
I work in financial, got out, did some retail, now i'm back in the game.

my best advice is
to at least take your 401k at work
if you don't want anything to do with investment

if you looking to become more active and react to the market
i suggest, you make an roth IRA

for example: i like to garden, it's really relaxing watching stuff grow and eating your own food

trump pass a tax cut bill a couple months ago
if you don't invest
you not going get your share of the pot from corporation

boeing, microsoft, apple, intel, google, etc...
they not going sent you, joe nobody, a paycheck by mail

they just going give that share of pot gold to their owner, worker, and shareholder

that the sad reality
we are not owner or worker
but we can be shareholder and get some of those pot of gold

The whole share buyback program is not going to happen.  CEO of JPM, James Dimon just wrote to the shareholders he's not going to buy back shares because he can provide higher return in the market.  So now you think Cook is going to buy back?  The market is OVER-VALUED and with Donald Duck in office creating a trade war, volatility is ultra high. You want to get rich, if you work 2nd shift, learn how to day trade.  If Donald Duck trash talk the trade war that night, BUY next day. and then sell 3 days later.  Thank me later for teaching you real money making.  Rinse and repeat until Donald trade war reaches 1-2% of GDP...then you want to SHORT big tech companies who depend on China.

Good for you.  In my life experience people only want what they don't have.  The rich want a happy family, the poor want to be rich, etc. 

I've have bought so many things in my life from NEW cars, tv, phones, bike, boat, etc and the truth is none of them really satisfied me.  The hype only last a few months, then I wanted new things again.  The only thing that really satisfied me was spending time with my wife, kids and family, making those memories, you know.  I'm not rich by all means, but I can afford most things people want from new cars to whatever. IMHO, I think you have to have a balance of things.  Too much money but no family is not it, great family but no money not it either, etc. I know people who have money and are single and they say loneliness is a struggle.  I know good family who says they living on paycheck to paycheck. 

Whatever it is, I believe if you have a balance of family, money, love, fun, etc. then you are in good hands.

The only way to be rich is to start a business.  In the last 30 years, the biggest growth company have been tech companies.  Wealth have been generated in Technology and Asia.  Do those things.  Otherwise, you'll get average results.  1M in the bank account is one cancer away from going broke.
