How was it? I was going to buy tickets but didn’t  want to torture fiancé. Apparently he’s never heard of new wave before.

Still talking about it.  I haven't gone home yet.  Still stuck in San Jose with a few new Viet friends.  We are doing 3lau an EDC quality dj in Costa Mesa this coming Friday night.  Hotel already booked.  Tix booked $18+4 fees

UC Irvine santa Ana area so you know this party is loaded with my Viet people.

Your fiance is a tad young to know what new wave is.  They were big in the early to mid 80s.

Haha! We're pretty old, it's because he grew up in Ohio and not much Asians. I remember listening to new wave in the 80's when I was a little girl. My Aunts and Uncles were teenagers at the time and New Wave was their thing. I wanted so much to be like them, couldn't wait to grow up. They got me into New Wave.

Honestly, I don't even know the originator to them new wave songs.  I was exposed by the Viet singers to the likes of Lynda Trang dai, the Viet version of Madonna.  I seriously thought it was the viets that created new waves.  Boy was I wrong.  It took me till a decade later to figure out who modern talking were and pet shop boys and their gay profile.

Other new waves worth mentioning is omd and early sounds of depeche mode.

My Viet people is big with coping other people's ideas and make money out of it but only within their Viet community.   We are not known as originator.  We just take things and make it better.
