not phers but I caught a fish(LB) this spring.  all the fish that got away, I think the one I caught was the biggest.  So, I was fine with the other ones getting away.

No lie. My boys took me out fishing for father's day and I lost a good size large mouth. It would've been a personal best or close to it. Incase ya want to know my personal best stands at 11lbs O0

I guess it was my fault. My boys took me out fishing but they kept messing around and I got mad at them. Losing that fish was my punishment :P :'(

So, I took a girl fishing at Marsh Lake in Appleton, MN. Lots of catfish there.

So, we set our poles on separate stands and sat back to watch them.

Hers started bending and she set  the hook. A huge fish was caught and we had to help each other reel it in and also net it.

While still doing that, my pole caught another fish. It was bending and bowing violently. But I was still helping the girl, so I couldn't get to it in time. By the time I got to my pole's spot, the fish had dragged it into the lake  and away into the deep. I didn't dare jump into the water for that.

So, both the pole and the fish got away.

Another time, I had a shrimp as bait on my line, ready for another cat.

I set it by the river side and I sat back to eat a dog that was already in a bun with ketchup.

The pole started shaking. I rushed to it. I lifted the pull and tried to reel in the catch.

Then the line became very light.

Darn! The fish had bitten off the bait and got away.

Not a cat  for sure.

Should go back next year. They are closing it this year because of the renovation works  on the dam. But it's reopening in November again or near that time.

My hooks have broken just so the line could get back to shore. lol

Imagine doubling that line: 400 lbs. You're gonna pull out even a gator!

What fish do you target in Appleton?  If its white bass, have you try S. Dakota?

He’s from MN

I think you mean me
River around in that area is nothing but white bass
You do get a few varieties
But most of the time it’s white bass

I know y’all like to google and wiki

Try.

Damn

You need some stronger hook than
A lot of rookies
I see breaking lines

1. Using 5lbs
2. Using line that is 5 years+++ old
3.  Gotta replace your whole line system at the start of the season

Wear and tear
