...especially in the Bay Area:

Why so many couples are getting married this Saturday

Summer Saturdays are always busy for Ivy Ha, an Oakland wedding planner who handles everything from hair and makeup to photography and cake for Bay Area couples on their big day. But this Saturday is going to be nuts.

It’s the 18th of August, in the 18th year of the millennium — 8-18-18 — an auspicious date for weddings.

Whether it’s the easy-to-remember palindrome, or the luck of the double eighteens, couples across the country are elbowing their way to the altar.

“Everyone is getting married on that day,” said Ha whose Ivy Bridal is in overdrive this week helping to organize 10 weddings on Aug. 18, more than double her typical summer Saturday.

Judging by the traffic in the Bay Area, it's definitely the most popular wedding day of 2018...

In many cultures, the number eight is associated with good luck. That's why Saturday, 8-18-18, has been regarded as the luckiest day of the year to get married.
